alright, so i don't know all the facts, because i haven't read any articles on it or anything, but i heard on the radio today something that made me want to punch something.

so apparently this girl got charged for....swearing on the phone when she called 911.

they played the phone conversation and i was just....:scared1:

(note; the conversation is form my memory so might not be entirely accurate, but this is the jist)

the girl calls (she's 17) her dad is having a seizure on the floor, he had just had brain surgery, she says "holy ____, i need a ____ing ambulance at my ____ing house" the phone operator proceeds to lecture her about swearing on the phone and HUNG UP ON HER.

she called back, the same guy answers and she says "are you____ing kidding me, my father is having a ____ing seizure i need an ambulance!"
he says "you don't have to swear you dumb b____" she says "are you going to send a GD ambulance or what?!" he says "no" (!!!!!!!) AND HANGS UP.
so he a)hangs up on her once....because she said a no-no word b)proceeds to call her a dumb b____ when she calls back and c) hangs up on her again....possibly leaving her father to DIE.

I cannot express my rage.
THAT MAN COULD HAVE DIED. I hope to God that ambulance dude got fired.
Anyways I just had to share this with you guys, dunno if anyone else has heard about that/has more facts. All I heard was a quick report and they played the phone conversation.

:scared1: Just because she's cursing while under extreme stress is NO reason for him to call her a name or HANG UP ON HER. Her father could have DIED!.

I very much hope that he was FIRED.

If my dad was having a seizure on the floor, I'd be swearing, too. How could someone possibly be calm in a situation like that?

Caitlin, check your facebook. ;)

That is absolutely positively unacceptable.

That is ridiculous. That guy should be fired immediately and the girl should not be charged. When something like that happens you get really scared and your adrenaline can really start going and you may say things that shouldn't be said, but so what her father was having a severe health problem.

Every second word I'd say would be a swear word, or Jesus.
I overuse Jesus xD
But in all seriousness, this is ridiculous! I hope that guy gets fired, and is lectured constantly about how his job is really important and his morals should not get in the way of doing it.

WHAAT! thats insane!!! :scared1:
I hope both of those 911 operators were fired. It isn't their job to lecture people about ANYTHING. Their job is to comfort the person on the phone, and talk them through it, and get them help ASAP!! How dare they hang up on her when her dad is in serious trouble! I would be swearing too if my dad was seizuring on the floor, Im sure she was totally freaking out!!

That really pisses me off.

Thanks for that link George.

And HOLY (expletive) @ that video you linked!!!!
That's so outrageous!!!!

Some dispatch callers should really be monitored more closely perhaps. :sad2:

If my dad was having a seizure on the floor, I'd be swearing, too. How could someone possibly be calm in a situation like that?

Yeah, really.
It was, well, more than rude for the dispatcher to be disrespectful to her. People swear, all the time - I wonder how he deals with it. (Obviously, by cursing back.)

There's just no words for how ridiculous and shocking that is. I hope he gets fired and charged for endangering that man's life.

I honestly don't blame her - seizures are scary. I thank God everyday I had one in the hospital and not at home. My mom was VERY calm, and when I mean calm she only screamed at the neurologist "WE NEED A BETTER DOCTOR HERE NOW!" ;)

God, that's disgusting. If someone I knew was having a seizure, I'd be swearing, too. Poor girl, and her poor father!

guy should lose his job!

that's completely unacceptable. I'd be swearing, too if my dad was having a seizure on the floor. I'd still expect the 911 operator to send an ambulance.

Holy crap, that's not right!! That guy obviously didn't realize someone's life was in danger and thought that not swearing was insanely more important than savings someone's life. :sad2::sad2:

Last time I checked, swearing on a 911 phone call isn't illegal.

She probably wasnt even thinking about her use of words!! I know I wouldn't of either! A seizure is so scary!

I hope hope as a role as a 911 operator would be to calm the party down and to reassure them and not hang up on them!

How awful. :sad2:

WHY is that guy a 911 operator? Does he expect everyone to be calm and happy while they are calling for an EMERGENCY? He should lose his job and have charges pressed against him.

What a freaking NUT!

According to the article I got the newslink from, the operator got a 2 week unpaid suspension and training.

she was swearing because she was scared, he shouldnt be aloud to swear at her and defo not aloud to hang up and so no! rude!!
