This one is for the debators!!!

You know what poohandwendy, I totally glossed over your point, and I COMPLETELY agree with you on that. You're right, you should NOT be confined to only one line (10 or less) that's just wrong.

LOL, deb...Really, it is their business. I just won't shop there. I have many choices.

And to be honest, it is more because of the lack of response I received from the manager than anything else. I asked him to explain to me why one "express" aisle, rather than 2, makes sense. He did nothing but stare at me like he had no idea what to say....
(btw, I didn't flip out or anything, I just left my order there and went elsewhere)

wow..

That is average isin't it?? We smoke two packs of cigs a day so that is six cartons a month at 30.00 a cartion

180.00=cigs
200=wine
make-up, hair spray, feminine products, razors, shower gel, perfume, deodorant, heartburn medicine, vitamins and groceries oh yeah that is over 1000 a month.

No wonder we are always broke!!!

When I lived in Canada the food stores always sold their cigarettes at the customer service desk. There was always one cash that was close enough to the customer service desk for the cashier could reach the cigarettes with two steps. If you only wanted cigarettes, you simply went straight to the desk, bypassing the cashier line. There was never any significant lining up time, perhaps one person, occasionally two, ahead of you. I do find it tiresome when the person ahead of you in the grocery line wants cigarettes and the whole line has to wait for the cashier to ring to get someone to come and find out what they want, then go unlock the cupboard, get the cigarettes, and return. Quebec is hardly known its customer service, but they did have cigarette purchases running pretty smoothly. Perhaps because Quebec is known as the smoking section of Canada ;)

I would add that I wondered if Disney delibnerately placed the smoking rooms at the end of the hall at AKL ( an extremely long walk ) because that way if anyone complained about the distance to their room, they could always say " well, you asked for a smoking room". But I guess it makes sense to place the smoking rooms beyond the regular rooms so non smokers do not have to walk past them.

I'm not arguing how much you spend at Wal-Mart, I just have trouble comprehending your "I spend how much $$ at Wal-Mart, therefore they need to cater to me" statement.

I like to think if someone spends $1 or $1000 a month at Wal-Mart they all deserve the same treatment

And to make matters worse, I've recently been carded to buy a R rated video. :rolleyes:
Enjoy it now ... because the day will come way too soon when this "mistake" will not happen! (Wishing for the days when a restaurant, store, Wal-mart would "card" me. ;) )

I'm confused b/c I don't see this as something new. Back in my hometown, there was a lane TOTALLY devoted to cigarettes (dry town so we didn't have one for the alcohol.) There was no 10 items or less...it was just for the cigarettes.

I don't shop at Wal-Mart so I don't know what it's like around here. I shop at Target and they don't sell cigarettes at all. The Super Target sells alcohol and you can go through any lane with it. In Texas cashiers have to take a test to become certified to sell alcohol and/or tabaco products.

I don't see a problem with it at all...it's all done to prevent theft for one and to keep underaged teens from buying this stuff. And a cashier isn't a runner...a cashier from any lane shouldn't be bothered with having to go run to get a pack of smokes for one custmer while everyone is left waiting in line. Would you expect the cashier to run back and go get your milk for you too if you forgot to pick it up???

That is not the way I intended it to sound:jester: I just meant that I am a customer. I am quite sure if yu went into a resturaunt and spent 200 on a meal and your waitress only checked on you once you would be a little bent of shape:tongue:

It is just annoying is all. Your tired, you have to lug your buggy to get the groceries and then wait in the long line to get checked out, then go back and wait in the cigarette line.

That is all I was trying to say is that everywhere else it seems the customer is always right but not there.:earsgirl:

LOL! I'm much more worried about the effect that my turning 50 will have on my mother than I am about it's effect on me.

OK!! that the customer is always right and make it a little easier.

There are people who have to do all their grocery shopping; some who have irritable children with them, then stand in one line to check out their groceries and then after all that have to go stand in another line and wait again just to get a pack of cigarettes.

Well if you wanted a debate, here goes. Parents with children shouldn't be buying cigarettes. They aren't good for you.

LOL. Aren't you suppose to wear a mask when you do a hijacking?

Gotcha SouthernClass..heck, it's Wal-Mart, if I get to leave without the feeling that I want to choke someone (fellow customer or Wal-Mart employee) I consider it a successful Wal-Mart visit :hyper:

Good one but I don't smoke in front of my children nor anyone else's and not many can say thatLOL

My Walmart is Skanktastic so I don't shop there. You also can't buy booze there and the tobacco is locked up.

They seem to stock a lot of skoal:confused:
