Please don't worry Nikki. Many thanks for doing as much as you have As well as fact that you've obviously been very busy, it would seem that most of your quizzers have been rather occupied as well!! If even Sandra is saying that she can't find the time.......!!!

As we are also having a few problems with finding quiz setters for July and August, we think it's probably a good idea to just forgo the quiz for those months and start again in September. Is that okay with everyone?

It's not that I don't have time to do a quiz, it's that I don't have the appropriate internet-access at the right time.
And I have a crush on some guy at the golf club, and I admit I spend way more time there now...
(I know, I don't have my priorities right, but my mom is starting to worry I'll end up as an old maid)
(and he is really really really cute. And last time, he even said he had some Mickey-stuff in his bathroom!!!! )

Thanks for the quiz Nikki, I'm sorry I didn't get to join in on all the questions, it was usually because the server was too busy to let me post and I didn't have the time to keep trying, just the time of year I think.

Not a problem Jill. I think a couple of quiz free months is a good thing - especially during the summer. Then we can look forward to the September quiz with renewed vigour!!!

It gave me a migraine.
And then, they joined my flight for a couple of holes (that happened because I play so slowly, I am just a rookie, lol!). It was very hard to see them together. Especially since the girl is even younger than I am (he is 44)!!!!

On the subject of quizzes, I'm going to float a possibly controversial suggestion and see what you all think.

Reduce the size of the quiz to 15 questions - i.e. one every other day.

My reasoning behind this is two-fold.

1) We're having trouble getting new quizmasters.

I think this is because it is a frightening task having to come up with 30-odd questions, especially if you've entered other people's quizzes and so have seen what they've already asked.

When it was my turn I personally was only able to do 20 in advance and so during the last week of the month I had to scramble around at the last minute waiting for inspiration to hit me! I also feel partly responsible for Jill not being able to do July, because I ended up (accidentally) stealing half of her planned questions!

The less questions you have to ask also means the less chance of having repeats.

2) The amount of people who start out with the intention of answering all questions in a quiz, but end up dropping out before half-way.

I don't enter many quizzes other people set, mainly because I'm not on the boards every day and so will miss more Q's than I can answer, and I know I'm not the only one like this.

Typically, if someone misses more than three days of a quiz, they probably will give it up because they can no longer catch up. Making each question last 48 hours instead of 24 might mean more people can take part for the whole month as the penalty for missing one or two days on the boards isn't that much.

And for proof, just look at this thread - how many people on here have said that there are things going on in their lives at the moment that mean they didn't have time to answer all the questions? And that's perfectly understandable too.

All of these are just my personal thoughts and I don't mean to 'flame' anyone! Just let me know if you think this is a good idea or not.

Hmm, I don't really agree.
Now, during the "summer" and part of September (because I'm on vacation, I'll be at DL!) it's hard for me to come online and answer questions each day. But as from October, Or even from the second half of September, I'll be able to participate again.

I also plan to host the quiz in December, and have already started to prepare questions. If in the meanwhile, someone borrow my questions, I will turn the question around a little bit, so that people won't notice it!

I think a summer break is good now, but after the summer, we should be able to handle the quiz again!

Summer has kicked in and that appears to have had an effect.

Personally I like being involved with the quiz but can understand that it can mean a lot of effort of quizmaster and players

My personal preference would be for questions every other day. I agree that, once you miss a couple of days it is easier to drop out rather than try and catch up (often impossible in anycase when the answers are posted quickly). I also think that we could consider not posting all the answers until the end of the quiz. That way if you DO need to catch up over several days, you still have the option to do so.

I have personally, never volunteered to take charge of a quiz because I KNOW that my DLP knowledge is way inferior to mosts here!!
