i was so psyched when i scored an early breakfast at CRT for our first day at the parks... DD3 loves the princesses and DS5 likes swords!

then, ariel went and disappeared for the week we will be there and now i was wishing i had a reservation at akershus instead so we have a better chance of seeing her (though i know not guaranteed)... ariel is DD's favorite by far... i told her we might not see her this time and she said it's ok mommy we'll just look for her and we'll find her... ah, such optimism...

i read that ariel is supposed to be at CRT more regularly now, but i haven't seen any posts by anyone who has been there the past week or 2 that have seen here there...

i scour these boards for any hint that ariel will likely be at CRT when we are there on monday, but have found nothing... i feel like i ask on every thread and on every board if she might be there and i really feel ridiculous now, but i can't seem to stop! :scared1:

so now i am actually feeling disappointed that we have the opportunity to eat in cinderella's castle, get in the park when it is empty and have a fabulous time just because a mermaid (with legs, of course) will likely not be there! honestly, i know how unreasonable that sounds!

that's all i really wanted to say... i figured there has to be someone on here who knows i am being silly but understands :)

You are being silly but understandable!!!! ;)

You already warned your DD you may not see her. Now just let the magic happen. She will have such a good time on your trip that her disappointment if you don't see Ariel won't be too big a deal. And just THINK of how excited you both will be if she DOES show up at CRT!!! btw, I don't think there's any way for anyone to know if she'll be there when you're there, so save yourself the trouble of asking and just let yourself be surprised!

I'm rooting for you guys to get to meet the mermaid!!! :thumbsup2

LAst trip in January we went to both CRT and Akerhaus and Ariel was at both

Don't forget to go to Voyage of the Little Mermaid at DHS. At least that way your DD will get to see Ariel even if she is just on stage.:)

I have been trying everyday to get a reservation for The Princess Breakfast at Epcot to increase our chance of meting Ariel. I read somewhere that you can go to town hall at MK and ask if they know where she will be. We have ressies at CRT and will be heading to town hall if Ariel is not there on Friday.

My DD will be turning 5 and I just want to make the trip as magical as possible.

OMG I just read the Snow White post :lmao: In January we did indeed see Ariel at the Norway breakfast. But my DD5 was most interested in meeting her favourite Snow White but luckily she was inattendance for our CRT breakfast. We didn't have to track her down like dog :rotfl2:

Thanks for all your support! I knew you would understand! Tomorrow morning is the breakfast so we will see!

But the best news is that about 10pm the night before we left I was able to snag akershus for Thursday breakfast!!! So we have doubled our chances!

I will update you all later!

The Grotto is closed Permanently-- it is not just being refurbed. They are completely redoing Fantasyland and Toontown and this is just the very first phase of the construction. I don't remember if the Grotto will be coming back when it is all finished but it will definitely be a long while and a whole lot of closings and construction before it is all done. Plan to meet Arial on two legs at a Princess meal.

There are threads on the Theme Parks Board and the Rumors and News Boards about all the changes that are on their way.

ETA: Here is a link with some information http://land.allears.net/blogs/dnews/2009/09/walt_disney_parks_and_resorts_2.html I forgot that she is getting her own ride. But the projected completion date is 2013.

What a great breakfast we had this morning! Snow white, aurora, belle and ARIEL!!! And Cinderella of course!

Both kids were happy - DD because of Ariel and DS because of that sword he carried around with him all day!

Long day! Off to bed!

So glad that you got her at breakfast! How awesome!!

So you won't be able to see Ariel in her fins anywhere at DW until 2013?? I mean like going up and taking a picture??
This is sad.. I don't think my hubby will let me go back in 2013. We are going in November most likely. Ariel is my favorite.. hehe
My parents took my DD to DW 2 years ago and they didn't go to the grotto.:/

*EDIT* Found this on another thread.. hope it is true.
Ariel will be appearing with Prince Eric in the Adventureland Veranda starting May 9th. Until that time, the only way to visit with her is at the two princess dining locations: Akershus (Epcot) and Cinderella's Royal Table (Magic Kingdom).

Never fear - I can remember being 6 and going (I'm 34 now!) and wanting to see Snow White very badly. The characters weren't as accessable as they are now. The very last day at the parade Snow White walked right up to me and said, "Well Hello!". I could have died. It really is the place dreams come true! Ariel will find her - have faith! Good luck!! :)

there is the "live" show at MGM she couldn't greet her but she could at least see her if nothing else.

Why would they have Ariel gone if she was supposed to be there as part of the cast. This is what frustrates me how hard is it to have someone dress up as The Little Mermaid and show up at a designated time. I am not talking about having bazillion princesses walking around. But op's post sounds like Ariel was part of the cast for that character breakfast but for some reason is going to be gone that week. That just sucks.

I was in the same boat, and thankfully found your thread about Adventureland Veranda meet & greet!

I have (at this point) budgeted and booked both the Castle lunch and the Epcot princess dining to double my chances, and I think that I will keep them both. This trip was centered around Ariel, and the more opps, the better for our little princess! I was devastated to hear about the Grotto closing right before our trip in 2 weeks!

And it really ticked my off when I was booking & heard from a CM that "Ariel doesn't hang out with Cinderella in the Castle"..... are they enemies in an upcoming movie or something!!!!

Haha, twist and the Disney Fairytale, it isn't the evil Stepmother you have to watch out for, but the other princesses...Disney turned Soap-hehe:rotfl:

Is Ariel in Adventureland now? Is she in her tail? I think the girls like her so much better that way? I know my daughter does! But she will be happy to see her in a dress also. It would be fun to see her in the peasant looking dress for a twist too, like they have Belle when you see her in the parks, but I guess most people like them all dressed up-more of the fantasy.
