this may be crazy, but...

I consider keeping my sanity and making our vacation as wonderful as possible a MAJOR necessity. Therefore if I need to rent a stroller and push my kid around until he's 24, that's what I will do. And how this could possibly affect anyone else at WDW, I will never know.

I STILL do not see the issue here. It's akin to if I were to make a post abt how I totally object to when a parent allows their child to eat a diet of pure sugar while on vaca at WDW! We're on vacation! Normal rules just don't apply. Of course I don't rent a stroller at the local mall for my DS8 because, obviously, I don't expect him to walk 40 miles a day at the mall. If your kid can handle that and remain pleasant, kudos to you for having a perfect child. But please stop worrying abt those of us who feel it's best for our kids to ride a few of those miles.

So my answer to the OP in short is........WHO CARES WHAT ANYONE THINKS, ESPECIALLY A BUNCH OF STRANGERS. IT IS YOUR VACATION....KICK YOUR HEELS UP......PUSH AWAY....AND ENJOY THE MAGIC!!!!;)

...WHO CARES WHAT ANYONE THINKS, ESPECIALLY A BUNCH OF STRANGERS. IT IS YOUR VACATION.......

Uh, she asked in the original post if anyone thought it was crazy. So many responded to her question.

By the time DD9 was 2 or 3 she was more interested in pushing her stroller then sitting in it, so we didn't have it for years. I first took her to WDW when she was 5, no stroller. We always go in the fall-winter months because I don't go during the busy season. We take breaks and enjoy the surroundings or look at the ducks near the Castle.
If a older child is healthy there isn't a reason why they should be in a stroller. We are nation of obese and physically unfit kids as well as adults. My DD is the only one in our cul de sac out of maybe 7 kids, who actually goes outside and plays if the weather permits. Too many video games t.v. and not enough physical activity. Has my child whined before? Yes, but I don't give in to it. And she knows I won't listen to it all day either. What if the child is 8 is still whining at 11 0r 12 about walking? Go someplace and walk with your kid and build up the endurance and get those endorphins going.

People, People...

A question was asked...."Will this look crazy?"

We ALL get to voice our opinion. Whether someone else's view doesn't match yours or somehow makes you feel defensive is not the point.

To the OP- I debated whether my 3- almost 4 yr. old needed a stroller one yr. We tried a half day without- got one the next day and it was a life saver. 8 yr. old in a stroller (IN MY OPINION)- too old.

Do as others have said....slow down and don't be too commando. I would think this would be much more sensitive to the neeeds of a child than shoving a big kid in a stroller in order for parents to maintain a sunup - sundown strategy!

Why not ask the child? Would you like to be pushed around in a stroller in WDW or walk? His/Her answer may give you the answer you need.

Thanks for clarifying:eek: ....... And my response is WHO CARES if anyone thinks you are crazy....it is your vacation.....I personally am not going to Disney to judge other folks.....I'm going to spend some quality time with my family!!

If your child needs it by all means rent one - do what ever is best for your family - who cares what others think!!!

It may look crazy...but who cares?!

I pushed my 5 year old and 11 year old around in a double stroller in October. Did we look crazy? Probably. Did we care? Nope. It worked well for us, I felt a bit more relaxed because I wasn't worried about a losing a child and my 11 year old who has asthma didn't need to use his inhaler once. :cool1:

Thankfully the Disney strollers are very easy to maneuver and push, even with an 11 year old in them. :woohoo:

Do what works best for your family and have a great vacation!

I'm closing this thread. It's run its course and the course of a bunch of other threads as well. I hope the OP got the information she was looking for.

For my younger kid -- its not that she couldn't do all the walking, its that her feet started to hurt. I was concerned about blisters from overtaxed sweaty feet in the hot temps of Florida in August. I know my feet are tired as can be by the end of the day and I've had a blister or two in my time. She is not a complainer when something hurts her -- she had double ear infections when she was little and she didn't complain. I worried that we would get all through the day and then I would discover the blister. A stroller saved her feet.
