this may be crazy, but...

Renting a stroller for an 8 year old? My son has obviously been out of a stroller for years, but he is a major complainer when it's hot out, and since we are going in June I was wondering if renting a stroller for him would be an option. Will this look crazy? :)

I've seen kids of all ages and sizes in strollers. If you think a stroller will make him happier and make your vacation easier, get a stroller.

I say go for it. My son's almost 8 and we got him a stroller on some days bc he was just too tired from being up late, getting up early, etc. There are a militant band of stroller-haters on these boards tho, so watch out for them!:rotfl:

Not crazy at all!! Do it, it will make your trip more enjoyable, and if anyone says anything, well, it is none of their business!!

If anybody says anything about having an 8 yr old in a stroller just tell them, "Don't worry, I won't make you push him". ;) I say go for it. I plan on getting a stroller at any point mine need it and they will be 5, 6 & 7 when we go.

I say get the stroller if it will make him comfortable!!! Don't worry about it!

I also say to get the stroller. Anything that will make the trip more comfortable and enjoyable for all is great:thumbsup2 I also am a Mom to a Brendan:goodvibes

I have a DS7 who I will be considering a stroller for this June!! At least a couple of days!

I would get it. If anybody says anything, feel sorry for them that they have nothing better to do while at Disney World.

If you think it would make things more pleasant- i say go for it and to heck with anyone who has nothing better to do than comment on it. He might be a bit snug in a single. DS6 this year has really long legs and he had to sit pretzel style

It's not crazy! You're looking out for your child, and that's the most important thing. I agree with everyone who has said to ignore anyone who makes a snarky comment.

I got one for my son when he was 8. There's so much walking he just got really tired (and then was getting cranky). Once we got the stroller he was soo much better. Also, I didn't call it a stroller when we got it. I told him it was a kid transporter (got the name from another DISer here)! It made him feel better about riding in it.

I wouldn't worry what other people may think-do what is comortable for your son and your family and get that stroller. :thumbsup2

I just want to add - don't underestimate the power of Disney to keep him going. When we went last year my son was just a few weeks shy of 6 yrs old, he can barely make it through a quick trip to Target- the whining and the tired complaints-too much. But not once did he complain about walking at Disney. We would leave at closing and he would bounce (literally) along with energy to spare. You might be suprised and your son will do fine.

I agree get the stroller .. My DD was 7 last time we went (and hadn't had a stroller at home for years) and is very tall for her age and she did a couple of the parks with nothing and was so shattered at the end of it that i thought what the hay and got 1 at others and yes i got funny looks but my DD had a fab time and wasn't too shattered and was the last to say she was tired hahaha so we all had a better time .. Also gives you somewhere to put all your bags etc  Ah i shall miss it this year  as she is now 9 i thnk i'd be pushing it a bit to squeeze her into 1

I think you do what you need to do to make your vacation work, but I'd be looking into a fitness routine and/or a doctor's visit if you end up needing one.

Are you serious?! My older DS is very athletic. He swims, plays soccer, and basketball almost every day of the week. I think you need to understand that he is still a CHILD who may get tired from all the walking and standing in lines at Disney. I know that adults get tired from all this so should they go to the doctor's after each Disney visit as well?? I'm sorry, but your post makes absolutely no sense to me and I'm sure I am not alone in this.
