Truthfully, if I were in the OPs situation, I'd be looking at other cost cuting measures rather than the child ticket thing. I would NOT buy the dining plan and room "package". Remember, if the son HAS to leave a park, restaurant, or other venue, at least one parent will also. Unused meal option are not credited back, and can wind up costing you $$$, more than the difference between a child and adult ticket.
Packages are not the best options for a lot of people. I would look all over for room only discount codes, figure that price plus park admission media and see if the differnce in cost really justifies the meal plan and increased rack room rate of the package.
