This just in from Disney Parks blog!

I guess I don't understand why this is good news...if you have to wait until you use your 3 fast passes, then most of the fast passes will already be gone. :confused3

Or otherwise then you have to schedule all your fast passes first thing in the morning, which will kind of ruin the idea of getting there early for rope drop to get on rides w/out waiting.

If they are going to do something, then let it be more scheduled fast passes, or being able to schedule 3 (each) in two parks on same day!

Ugh. I know I am at the beginning of this thread, but YUCK. Out of the options that were tossed around when the survey questions came up here, this was the *worst* one. Ugh. Not happy.

Agreed. I don't know if I should reevaluate or leave alone.

Same boat. 30 days out. That IS enough time to roll this out ... but will it be done !?!?!?

Even if they told us their "target" I would appreciate it. Better than absolute uncertainty.

Yes, I am also not certain that they picked the survey option with the most votes. I wonder if they just avoided the one with the least. I cannot believe that the majority of surveyed guests went for this one.

Disney would NEVER do that. Same reason they don't tell people when there will be cranes painting the castle.

Agree.

If you must use the kiosks, then I don't think this is good news at all. :sad2:

Agree.

Do you guys (who didn't like FP+) really think this is good? All this is doing is creating an urgency to burn your 3 FPs right away on the hopes of getting a 4th.

Before you'd take them at 12, 1, and 2, and rope drop from 9-11. Great.

Now, you have every reason to take your FPs at 9, 10, 11, to get a 4th which will be for around 7pm and certainly not for anything really desirable like TSMM.

How is that better? You used 2 FPs during Rope Drop times, and you got one FP for later at night, and you spent the middle of your day with none (and nothing but long lines).

This is the first change to FP+ that I have not been excited about.
:confused3

Agree.

Please disney don't give out toooooooooo many FP+ though. stand by should still get rides.

They've already shown that standby is really standby now. I think it was on Easywdw, saying that if there are 300 FP people they will all get on before the first standby person.

This is just moving towards a system where every ride is through the reservation system.

Anyway, all this does is let motivated people pick through the scraps. Which is fine, slight improvement over not being able to pick through the scraps.

With Disney uncertainty is the only thing we've had to go on since MM+ was first announced. In my view, lack of communication played a significant role in many of the problems and much dissatisfaction with the system. We have been forced to plan further out and in more detail, but the game keeps changing without warning.

I'm currently at 24 days out. lol I currently have all of my FPs scheduled for the early evening except for departure day. I'm fine leaving them the way they are, but also wouldn't mind knowing if I CAN change them if I want to.

Yeah, I can see some benefits here... like perhaps on an EC day, use your FPs earlier (like 11-12-1) then find something useful for late, on your way out. It could be SE or MS if nothing good is let, but maybe you'll luck into a TT or Maelstrom. That would be neat.

Or at the MK, whereas you might have been thinking rope drop, then leave midday, then come back in the afternoon and spend your FP, now you could do morning FP at 11-12-1, and then there should be something decent left for a 5 or 6pm slot. It won't be the Mountains, but you should find a Small World or Buzz Lightyear, which would be pretty cool.

While it was definitely my least favorite choice in that survey, I can see some angles to use it productively, and I'm leaning toward it not being as bad as my initial reaction. :)

Yes, but people who can use their smartphone can be people who leave the park and go back to their off-site hotel or out to eat off property.

Making it kiosk-reliant keeps people in the parks.

But it can be looked at this way too. I went to DHS and used my 3 FP+, now I'm back at my hotel swimming and eating lunch and deciding whether to go to Epcot for the evening or just order pizza for dinner and relax at the hotel? I hope on the App and see that I can get a fastpass at 8:30pm for my favorite ride (Soarin or Test Track) that would get me back to Epcot instead of staying at my hotel. Whether an 8:30pm fastpass for a headliner would be available at lunch time may be in question - but if it was, it would work to get someone back to the parks.

I'll be there the week after you, so you can test it for me, k? :)

45 punctuation marks in 8 sentences. Maybe you should lie down for a bit.

OMG, I just spit coffee out of my nose. ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know how many exclamation points that is, but really did LOL on this one.

Anyway, Glad to see they are adding these, but standing in line at those kiosks... No way Jose. Have you seen those lines? They should really allow people who do want to use their app the ability to add another FP+ from their app after the other ones are used up. I don't see how that would be any different.

Glad they're listening, or did they make it so crappy at first (on purpose) that now we all think we are getting a great deal? LOL

Addressing the RD concern.

I arrive in 39 days and this is making me rethink my strategy. I had planned to do rope drop, ride as many SB attractions I could, then use FP+ for afternoon/evening. Now I'm thinking I can get there a little later in the morning, use my 3 FP+ by 1pm then add more as the day goes on.

So I don't think this will negatively affect RD...in fact it may positively affect it or have no change.

I have wondered that too. I still want to know what same day availability is by attraction. Then I'd have a better idea if the additional 4th is good. I do think they'll add the ability to hop. That will be awesome in my opinion. Well as long as they aren't subject to tiers. If I can FP+ TSM and Soarin' in the same day, I would view this system as an actual +.

Purely speculation, but if what they're saying about just kiosks isn't a mis-statement, they'd be segregating the kiosks with in-park-only FP's that wouldn't be in the regular FP pool you'd see on the app/MDE. Keeping guests in the Park longer and all that...

Have they relaxed the rules on FP+ ressies around ADRs? When I went in Dec, you couldn't have a FP and hour before or 2 hrs after. Some folks said they could change times but I couldn't get the system to do that.

Maximum touring strategy is now going to dictate having a FP+ in hand at all times. The times in between you'll hit up the attractions with no wait.

People have said this, but I have NEVER had a problem with this. Originally it may not schedule them around ADRs, but when I go to change mine, I can get any time I want including overlapping an ADR.
