This Just In...2006 OKW dues up 10%

Let's not waste our time questioning what DVC does. We should just trust that they are looking out for our best interests and that they know what they're doing. I say we put on our Disney grins and concentrate on having fun vacations instead of worrying about silly things like money.

Please tell me your joking.

I saw that, too. I didn't look at everything to see where the increase(s) came from but I'm guessing it has a lot to do with insurance being more expensive and the resort being the oldest DVC resort around. Lots of things need doing.

Don't like to see an increase like this...

"The increase in Front Desk costs are due to the addition of Front Desk Advisors to reduce guest check in times"

this is what DVC told me RE: BWV dues increases

My dues have gone up yearly at BCV and I wouldn't complain a BIT if I thought they were going to Front Desk Advisors OR Housekeeping. Obviously at BCV, dues go for something else.

Once the jack kicks in, I tend to post some really ridiculous stuff. With the dawning of a new day, I take it all back.

Actually, just having a little fun based on some recent transportation threads. No seriousness intended at all.

One item that stood out in the 2006 budget numbers was the management fee of $2,436,092. This is up about 20% from the actual fee ending 2004 of $2,053,811. This is fee is not the resort management or front desk staff which is budgeted at $3.7M for 2006. Does any know what services this fee covers?

Considering that the 2006 budget numbers for maintenance is $2,940,561 for the whole resort, I thought the management fee was a little high.

There certainly were a lot questions at the Annual OKW meeting about the dues increase! We hadn't gotten any info in the mail, so I almost fell off my chair at hearing a 9.8% increase! Surprisingly, no one mentioned the pool slide's possible impact-considering how the pool slide was first recieved, I expected that to really be discussed. Insurance was mentioned as the biggest cause-apparently Florida property insurance rates have increased over 40% after all the hurricane damage last year. There was also mention of Worker's Compensation issues and how there's a definite effort being made now to train CMs in proper lifting, stretching, etc. to avoid injuries. All this talk made me wonder if there was something that had happened. And overall employee costs were mentioned. The reflooring of the Grand Villas were mentioned, along with new pillows, mattresses, air conditioners, and repaving, but they weren't presented as major factors of the dues increase, just future improvements.

If you would be kind enough to clarify...was the insurance attributed as the major reason for the increase or was there no specific factor attributed as the major reason for the increase?

Thanx,
