DH currently gets 10 vacation days a year (next year, he will get 15). We have been keeping track of the days that he has used and according to our records, he has 5 days left. Out of the blue, the main office "updated" their computer system and he is told that he only has 2 days left. :confused: We are totally baffled so he asked for a print out to see where they are only coming up with 2 days. He is told yesterday that he was supposedly paid for vacation time he didn't yet earn back in 1998!!!!!! :earseek: He didn't start at this company til Nov 22, 1998 and I am 100% sure he did not take any vacation! The first vacation time that would of been available to him would of been after a year (Nov 1999) and he took that week in Feb 2000 when we went to WDW! :rolleyes:

He is supposed to get this print out on Monday. I can't wait to see where they are coming up with this! Last year, they took 2 days away from him because they said they double paid him for sick days that he cashed in during 1999 (if you don't use your sick time, they pay you 50% for them....you can't carry them to the next year).
 
Does he have his old paycheck stubs? If he was paid for the vacation time, it should be noted. Good luck!
 
I went searching yesterday and found 1 from 1998...heck, since he is paid bi-weekly, he more than likely only received 2 for that year. Nothing on it indicated any vacation day. I do think we would of noticed vacation pay being listed on a regular pay check! :rolleyes: The company has changed hands 3 times since he started there. Policies are changed more often than not! :eek:
 
Can they only accumulate so many days? I know my husband "loses" a lot since he never takes as many as he is allowed. Maybe they limit how many will carry over from year to year, so where you thought he'd saved 5 over the years, he carried less than that along.

FWIW - I've worked at this company for 5 years (well - it changed hands last year) and my pay check has never indication "work" or
"vacation" pay...it's just listed as hours worked. I've never seen it broken down into work/vacation/sick time...so you might NOT see it on paystubs. All depends on the company.
 
Latest policy change is that "sick/earned days" can be carried forward, vacation days can not. It's use 'em or lose 'em! :rolleyes: He has 10 vacation days this year, he has used 5 of them. Definitely days from this year.

They have also changed policy on when you get sick time. You get 6 sick/earned days each year. Every month, you accumulate a half day. This is new from the past years. He took 2 sick days in Feb but only got paid for 1 since he only had "1" in the bank. They don't make it easy!!! :crazy:
 
His pay stubs always show Regular hours, Over time, Sick, Holiday and Vacation. This is one thing that has not changed.
 
Isn't they some type of limit on how far they can go back. 1998 seems to be to far back to count.
 
I think I have this figured out!! :bounce: If it's what I believe it to be, it is definitely in our favor!

The week DH started there was Nov. 22nd - Thanksgiving was that Thurs and they also close on Friday. I found the pay stub for his first week there. He DID get holiday pay (2 days) and would of also gotten Christmas off as a holiday! This would account for the 3 days they have taken away from his this year. The company (before the take-over) gave employees holiday pay from day 1 - new company makes you wait for 90 days before giving holiday pay. I have the hand book DH was given when hired - clearly states their holiday pay policy. :hyper:
