I just ate dinner. I had a Smart One frozen dinner and lowfat grahm cracker, nothing unusual for me. Now the right side of my tongue and the side of my mouth are numb, almost like a sleeping foot sensation. This is bizarre!!! Has anyone ever had this happen to them? What did you do to make it stop?
Thanks for any ideas!

Could you be allergic to anything in the meal? That sounds strange. I hope it passes soon.

It does sound like an allergic reaction. I hope everything is alright!!

Cam, it sounds like something neurological, like a pinched nerve. Have you taste buds been affected? Is your face sagging on the same side? If it doesn't resolve itself in a few minutes, I would call the doctor ASAP!!

Good luck!!!

BK

Thanks for the advice everyone. Luckily I think Im ok. The feeling spread across my whole tongue and lasted for about 15 minutes. It then went away slowly. That was so strange!
My first thought was an allergic reaction too(DS is allergic to peanuts, so I think thats always on my mind), but its the same thing I have been eating at least once a week for years. Unless if they added a new ingredient or something.
Well, I think Ill survive...and Ill be very observant when I eat that again. :D

Any further tongue updates?

Steve

ROFL!!!!
Nope, Ive eaten the same thing since then and no more strange feelings.

SO strange that you would post this! Last night I made chicken terriyaki and was drinking a diet vanilla coke when my tongue started burning relaly bad like a chemical burn not a temp burn. h was eating the same thing and felt nothing. it was SO bizzarre!!!

Glad youre feeling better~!

If it does happen again, you should talk to your doctor about food allergies. I know from experience that food allergies can come on QUICK! About 5 years ago I suddenly developed a few food allergies. We still don't know what set it off. One of my allergies makes my tongue numb also. Glad to hear yours only lasted about 15 minutes. Mine lasts for 3 DAYS!!!!

chell is correct. My father had severe food allergies that would make his face and tongue and throat swell up. The doctor told him that you could eat strawberries for 50 years and never have a reaction and bam! one day you'd eat one and be allergic to it.

His allergies caused him to have angioedema.

Sadly, this is what caused my father's death.

Allergies are not something to take lightly. Especially food allergies. Please tell your doctor.
