This is disgusting!!! I'm so afraid of voter fraud this election, and apparantly Ohio's Secretary of State fought to disenfranchise Republican voters

I’ve been telling you to keep an eye on Ohio’s voter fraud-friendly Democrat Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner. Good news: A judge in the Buckeye State is keeping an eye on her, too. And keeping her in check. The GOP just won a very significant court round against her:

Republicans have won a round with Democratic Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner in what’s turned into an ongoing dispute over voting procedures.

A unanimous Ohio Supreme Court on Thursday, Oct. 2, ordered Brunner to tell county boards of elections not to reject applications for absentee ballots because of an unmarked box next to next to a statement that the applicant is a qualified elector.

“No vital public purpose or public interest is served by rejecting electors’ applications for absentee ballots because of an unmarked check box next to a qualified-elector statement,” the Supreme Court decision said.

The absentee ballot applications in question were supplied by Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s campaign. Other application forms for absentee ballots don’t include the boxes.

Now, it’s time to turn up the heat on the early voting shenanigans and Homeless Ohioans for Obama registration drive and denial of access to GOP poll observers.

Yeah I saw a report on a similar situation in Michigan. I read and article about a week or so ago that basically said that Michigan is going to use a forclosure lists to prevent registered voters from voting since legally the voters don't technically have a residence as they were evicted. Which I understand by law it makes sense but considering that the very Government and members of the GOP who want this pushed through just passed a pork barrell laden bailout bill to save the very people they are now claiming have no rights to vote is simply sickening.

I did read a follow up article that claimed that the Michigan GOP has plans but preventing voters is not one of them. The Obama Campaign has threatened to file suit over the "voter-forclosure" plans. Seems to be that someone is acctually trying to protect the average American and not just talk like one. *wink*

Both cases goes to show you that our Democratic-Republic isn't so Democratic at times.

Yeah, well that's one for them and one for us. We won the right to register and vote last week inspite of the attempts by the Republican Party to stop that. Have fun standing in line on November 4th. The last presidential election, your friend Ken Blackwell removed voting booths from Linden, Olde Towne East, German Village and Clintonville where the vote is almost solidly Democratic. People stood in line for hours, many hours just to exersize their right to vote. There are two movies that have been shown on HBO all about it. They were also shown here in Columbus. I'll get the film titles and return to this thread so you can watch and decide just who is actually defrauding the voters of Ohio. Diebold has admitted to sending us faulty equipment here in Ohio- admitted it, regarding that election. Jennifer Bruenner is doing her job. BTW, I can not find your posted article anywhere on line or in a local newpaper. Where did it come from? Wait....Michelle Malkin. Oh - sorry, I give her no credence whatsoever. She twists every word she writes until it screams.

Well, I can see now why they are pushing in Ohio to register and vote at the same time. With what they're doing with the absentee ballots - looks like they need time to find a reason to reject republican votes.

I hate to be cynical, but this proceedure in Ohio is bizarre and only opens the door for fraud.

The only reason Bush is president now is because of voter irregularities in FL and OH in the last two elections. I voted for him twice and wasn't upset over it, but let's be honest and admit it happens all the time and both parties are to blame. I think the penalty if you are caught should be summary execution! That eliminates recidivism

One of the newscasts that I saw a couple of days ago had a reporter interviewing the early voters in Columbus. Most were homeless that had been bused in by OS. The one homeless man said that he was picked up by the OS and bused in to do the same day voting. Now I get that it is within the law, but the scary part was how he said they were putting him on a bus to go to with others to Chicago! Was it to vote there? He then said "isn't America great"!

That's a nice story except for the fact that the Secretary of State has nothing to do with county elections boards precinct allocation.

I agree that it is completely ridiculous. My Mom actually had realized that she was never sent her ballot (because she didn't check the stupid box) and finally called them up, *****ed them out, and she had one in the mail a few days later.

And really, it's their job to be checking who is registered to vote and who isn't.

I don't think you ought to be able to vote without a valid license or state id. For absentee ballots I think you should have to photocopy your drivers or state id onto an attached sheet. Also in national elections they ought to have the same rules from state to state. I am sick of the fraud. If I have to show an ID to write a check, make a credit card purchase or board a domestic flight you should have to show one to vote.

You and I both know what Ken Blackwell did during our elections here in Ohio. the voters of Ohio knew and they threw him out of the state for it. He is a criminal, he's a known associate of Rod Parsley and Hagee and Rove used him to fix the Ohio election. I've been to the hearings about that election. I delivered food(pizza, chicken, hamburgers, water) to the precincts where he removed the voting machines so people could eat while they waited. Other people from our union gathered children, took care of their needs and tended to other issues the people in line needed done so they could vote. We didn't tell them how to vote or who we were except where children were concerned. What they knew was that they were determined to vote and that they had other responsibilities that waiting 4-5 hours would not allow. People who had arrived at 5:30pm were still in line at 11pm. I stood beside my union president while she spoke to Blackwell personally, about needing the voting machines he had ordered removed and locked up in a warehouse downtown. I have personal knowledge of all of this. You have theories.

If you think Jennifer Brunner is going to jeopardize your ability to vote, better vote early. You just might end up in a precinct short of voting machines. Oh and Franklin county is the one of a few counties in all of Ohio that does not have the flawed machines but do you really want to cast your ballot on a machine that could actually make your vote count for the other guy?

Yep, that's what I said. Voter fraud is disgusting but apparently it's also conceptual. See, I don't think Jennifer Brunner chose any one group as a target, I think she instructed her employees to follow the letter of the law. If that rule needs to be changed, let's do it. You act as if you are not aware of the huge battle going on in this state because of past election fraud and that Jennifer Brunner has taken on Diebold/Premier, the Republican Party, Blackwell and many others and won. Of course, reading people like Malkin for your information would skew your thinking in one direction. Even the conservative Dispatch has reported in a fairly obvious place about all the voting issues in this state.
