This is us..

I liked last nights episode. Anytime they feature more of Jack is a good for me. It was especially sad listening to Rebecca talking about how she felt all three of the babies in her womb.

I think the series needs to focus a little less on Randall. I would like to see more of the other characters fleshed out. I would also like to see the series explore more how Randall's siblings felt about the special treatment he received. As a young family they are not portrayed as having a lot of money so it is easy to see that his private schooling resulted in hardship for the rest of the family. I have two children and I can't imagine giving more to one child than the other. We made the decision to send our oldest to private school because she needed the challenge. We also did the same for our younger even though the need wasn't as great. I could not devote more resources to one than the other. I would like to see the series explore the resentment this decision might have caused.

I loved this episode!!! I love this whole show!!

To me, it wasn't filler at all, but filling in the details, and it was all about how much our lives are intertwined with the lives of others, whether we know it or not - which I think has been the point of the show since the first teaser commercials for it.

I thought they said in the original episode when the private school was brought up that Randall could go on scholarship? I do remember Jack and Rebecca talking about how they didn't have the money for it. Or am I remembering wrong?
I remember them talking about the money. I missed a discussion about the school not costing them anything. Special treatment for any sibling can cause problems and the show has shown problems between Kevin and Randall that continues to present day. I wonder how that affected Kate.

I was just going to post something very similar! I enjoyed the episode, because I love Milo as Jack, and he and Mandy Moore have great chemistry together. I started becoming very emotional from the scene with Dr. K at his wife's grave through the end. I like seeing more of these characters, and how they react to things...what makes them who they are.

It's kind of an "It's a Wonderful Life" type of thing in my opinion...you get to see how events have an effect on everyone involved.

Well...DH cut off the DVR with about 2 minutes left in this episode. I watched it today, and it stopped when Dr. K was sitting at the kitchen table talking to his dead wife, telling her he thought she'd want him to move on. I saw that he packed up her closet, cleared away her toiletries and threw away her meds. Anything else happen in the last 2 minutes? Did he reach out to the grocery store lady?

I agree with those who are questioning the motivation behind the fireman's backstory. It's almost like the show is trying to say giving up your baby is a good thing as they're trying so hard to turn it into a good thing. Just stick to the main characters, I want more info on Jack and how he passed away, more info on William, stick to what's working NBC.

I don't remember everything that happened at the end but it did show Dr. K having dinner with the grocery store lady.

Yes, it showed him having dinner with the grocery lady and giving away her wheelchair. I don't think you missed much else, just him moving on.

It showed the fireman and his wife deciding to start over and them talking and laughing at a coffee shop.

It also showed Jack, Rebecca, and the kids (at about age 10) watching the home movies that Jack shot that day when Rebecca didn't know he was watching.

It's really minor, so I don't know if anyone will remember... I couldn't catch what Rebecca screamed out to Jack when he was in the car getting ready to leave. Thanks for something (sarcastically).

I really enjoyed the episode. I like seeing the story from different points of view and how small actions can lead to changes. I don't need the story to progress at a rapid rate. I'm enjoying being in the different moments.

I don't want to chance getting in trouble for language on the board, but basically she thanked him for getting her pregnant, which apparently happened in the restroom at a bar

She yelled something like, "Thanks for the bathroom sex at (name of the bar where they watch the Steelers games)," because she is so sick of being pregnant at this point.

I took it to mean she got pregnant in the bar bathroom. Did I get it right?

THANK YOU! I caught the thank you and the bathroom, but I missed the rest. Yes, she did get pregnant in the bar bathroom. :)
