This is us..

I was thinking last night, that for a show that loves twists and surprises, Jack death is all but being handed to us in the commercials? Do you think maybe they are setting us up to think that will happen, but it will actually be another accident or something, that Kate faults herself for at a different time? It just seems weird that they would show all that to us in a commercial and I am thinking it wouldn't be right for them to kill Jack before he and Rebecca are good again. Rebecca would then also be struggling with guilt like Kate is?
I love Mandy Moore always have, so I am fine with Rebecca, but the aging makeup, that is a different story.

This is what I thought, as well. For a show that likes to go in unexpected directions, they seem to be pointing a big, red arrow at a drunk driving accident.

Mandy Moore has said that we won't know what really happened with Jack until Season 2. ???

I actually don't think he's going to die next week. I think they are tricking us. I can't see them just giving it away. It's a ploy to make sure we watch next week.

They lost me with him quitting with no other plan in place. Yes, he needs a better work/family balance. But just up and quitting throws the family into turmoil and trades one set of problems for antother.

Oh, I imagine they have tons of $$$ saved and with his skills he could get another job in a heartbeat.

I think she has a good job as well, so they've probably got a good length of time as a cushion for him to look around...Or start something of his own, like his dad always wanted to do:

And he helped create that company. He could easily become their competition.

::yes::

See, I think it was great that Randall quit. He is following his heart, putting family first, stopping to smell the roses so to speak. He learned that from William. That is what he is taking from William and his legacy. Like he said to his boss, "maybe I will walk instead of run tomorrow, and stop to talk to my mail man." I think he wants to connect with people, like William did, instead of burying himself with work. The final straw was when he realized his job did not value him. First by bringing in Sanjay to work on his accounts, then sending him a insensitive sympathy gift when William died. He realized he was nothing to them. I do think he should have talked to Beth about it first though LOL.

I don't think they are in any financial trouble without his job. The seem very well off and Beth seems to have a job so I don't think they will be in turmoil. I think it's the opposite, Beth has been making snide remarks about his job and all the time he dedicates to it instead of being with his family. I think she will be relieved at his quitting.

I think Randall and Beth are in a good place financially. She's also a PT lawyer right? I'm assuming she could pick up full time. He has time to find a job.

I think that Randall must have discussed quitting his job with Beth between the time he told her he needed to stop by the office and before we saw him quitting. They couldn't show that without losing the impact of the scene. I can't see Randall making that decision without any input from Beth.

This is what I think also.

I just saw Mandy Moore on The View and she said next weeks episode is a Jack and Rebecca standalone episode..before they met and when they started dating and also 'present day' stuff..her on tour and the problems in the marriage.

The big problem with that is almost all companies make their employees at that level sign non-compete agreements to prevent that kind of thing happening. Of course with his wife being a lawyer she could try to litigate him out of the mess this would cause.

You know, I'm not clear if he worked FOR the company or if he was PART of the company. But yeah, I'm sure there's ways around it. I've never worked for a corporate company but I've witnessed many companies, including ones that have owned the plant my husband works for skirt those pesky contract clauses. Not that Randall is the type to get dirty like that.
