This is Us- Season six

But unless I'm misremembering, she didn't even mention her mother in their discussion

You"re not. She didn't. At all.

Nor did Toby say "God I would love you to come to San Francisco Kate, for many reasons but also so I can live my damn family life not under the spotlight of the Pearsons."

But I am believer that humans are skilled at not adding or admitting some very valid reasons for their actions and desires.

Sometimes because they don't even realize/know some of the truthful reasons - Took me many decades to realize that not everyone walks through life as conscious as another.- But many times because it is easier to talk ****, and put it out as an easier explanation.

Those worrying about Toby looking like the bad guy -

Don't.

I think anyone with half a brain can see that he isn't the bad guy; that there are issues on both sides. Needs on both sides.

My apologies to those I just talked crap about.:rotfl2:;)

True, but if the tables were turned and it was the husband lamenting the loss of his fat, insecure, people-pleasing, depressed-to-near-suicide wife, the one who used to rely on him completely for her happiness, and resented her getting healthy and gaining a sense of self worth...well? He’d be vilified as an abusive monster. :rolleyes1 I absolutely HATED the scenes of Kate and “Old Toby”.

Me too on your last line.

But then again I could not stand the old Toby.

I’m not really Team Kate or Team Toby, but throughout the show, Kate has generally been the more selfish of the two so with that in mind I generally lead more on Toby’s side. How long was Kate planning on allowing Toby to travel 350 miles weekly? When it was evident that the job was going to stick, why weren’t plans in place to start transitioning to his new work area? Yes, Toby should have told her about the job offer, he was in the wrong there. But Kate is not blameless in the situation either. With only a part-time job, and a young Jack who is only just starting to learn his home, I feel like plans for her to move should have been already in progress.

This is exactly how I feel about this situation and them in general. Kate is most definitely not blameless.

(But I also have the different perspective on Rebecca)

I think that's pretty different than the situation that Kate and Toby are in.
On another note though I have to say the more posts of yours I read the more I think most husbands would love to be married to someone like you. You seem very laid back, understanding, and very empathetic to any working husbands :) Your DH is one lucky guy! This whole situation obviously wouldn't be a blip on the radar if you were Kate. Definitely not a bad thing, just a different perspective.

So true.

Loved this post brockash.

I am just perked up and intrigued when people have perspectives and traits that I lack.

In the house Toby found there was an in law carriage house for Rebecca and her husband, so I do think he was being considerate of Kate’s family and having grandparents nearby for the kids

But as Rebecca's dementia progresses, living in a space where everything is new and different would be more stressful for her as well. I just don't think a move is the best thing for anyone but Toby right now.

To add to this (for Toby's sake), Kevin is also building a cabin to accommodate Rebecca, Miguel, and any healthcare workers she needs. We see at the end that Rebecca, at some point, is at the cabin. Probably been there a while as I doubt they just moved her to be there at the end. So Rebecca being strictly in LA all the time probably won't last for long.

That's a good point!

Actually, she did mention her mom….

”I need to know how much is worth me giving up my job, and a house where Jack feels comfortable, not to mention being near my family and my sick mother, in the same city as Hailey has two cousins the same age to grow up with.”

I think she should have emphasized her sick mom more, but she did mention her.

Randall's episode was the best of the three for me, by far! He's back on top as my favorite Pearson kid. The inscription on his magazine article to his mom made me bawl. That's what my son and I always say to each other. We're each other's biggest fan. And the memory boxes killed me. Her memory is going to start going fast now.

Next week's episode is going to be a doozy from the previews. I'm not ready.

Totally missed that Dakota, thank you.

Lord knows what I was doing when that was pointed out.

------------

That seems weird to me for a couple.of reasons, mainly this storyline seems so off to me/rushed.

But I don't have my head tonight to even explain.
