This is Us- Season 5

My son who doesn’t watch the show but was in the room tonight said that Kevin mentioned that he was a 45-year old man when he walked into the “girls’ room” at Kate’s wedding, so it’s 5 years in the future.

Those were almost my words exactly!
I just couldn't believe it...like I'm seriously pondering if there's some insane chance that the British guy somehow needed a Visa or ...I don't know something. - It's just so crazy and seems so fast for such a life altering event.

On the other hand, man I just love Beth...she's just so insanely funny...I loved the part about murdering someone... I'd have a few questions, but assume you'd have your reasons lol. - I've had some of those exact talks with my sisters lol.

Awe...good catch...I didn't hear/pay attention to that...ok, so I guess it is a bit later, but still...I'm just shocked.

So, am I the only one who is so used to misdirection from this show that they’re overthinking and trying to come up with other possibilities of what’s going on? Like it’s not as straightforward as everyone says? No, probably just me.

Also, interesting how they barely age in 5 years, but then seem so much older another 5 or so years later, judging by the age of the twins in the other flash forward.

Absolutely... I just can't imagine this scenario... so let's come up with the reasonable explanations lol.

* Brittish guy needs a Visa

* Brittish guy is actually marrying Madison (I know her dress doesn't fit) and it's a double wedding with Kate/Toby renewing

* It's acting/fake...like they're filming a movie

lol...I know none of these seem all that reasonable, but to me make more sense than as it appeared.

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

This episode needs to win all the awards! This might be my favourite episode of the whole series. Where to even start?

The whole scene of Madison and Kevin talking was so real, so honest, so raw. It was beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time. I liked seeing Madison’s backstory and I’m so glad that she finally values herself.

Kevin was totally focused on the wedding, not the marriage. He really wanted to fall in love with her, but I’m glad he was honest at last.

The scene with the big three and Rebecca in the chairs was so heartfelt. I really liked that it was just them. And the way Rebecca asked Kevin to build her her house. Ugh, tears were flowing.

I think the flash forward is exactly as it seems. I guess we know why Toby was in such a funk in the flash forward. I’ve always liked Toby, and it hurts to know what’s coming for him. I see a LOT of myself and my husband in everything Kate and Toby, warts and all.

The paper Kevin was holding said big three construction, so maybe they are all business partners in the future? I wonder in what way Randy P (lol) is a rising star. You’d assume politics, but I think it’s something different.

I can’t get over how much Annie has grown in the series. She was such a cute little kid when we started and now she’s really turning into a young lady in front of our eyes.

Love, love, LOVE Beths handling of Tess this episode. I, too, would assume my daughter had good reasons for murdering someone.

I love Nicky. That’s all.

I have two episodes saved from this season, the one where Jack meets his grandchildren with Kevin, and this episode. I already know the boxed set will end up on my Christmas list at some point lol

I’m really sad that next season will be the last. I think I said that in an earlier post that I didn’t want a dumb ending where everyone ends up happy but now I think that’s what I need.

I thought it was a great episode. I love quiet episodes. And then the end was brilliantly done in my opinion. I have said this over and over, the trajectory of people's lives is fascinating to me. And this episode was all that.

No issue with rapid changes. I have had changes in my own life that no one could have ever have convinced me of beforehand.

No issue with the aging. Forty-five to Fifty-five is aging central. And they had to keep it subtle to carry the surprise.

Loved seeing both Kevin and Madison happy. She did say I told you ____ times this morning. So if they are not together, they are at least making family work.

I have seen the music teacher storyline coming. Once I saw Kate in the wedding dress, it was not a huge surprise. I knew Toby and Kate were not together. He had never seen Kevin's house - imagine that in Pearson land. And Randall thanked him for coming in the fast forward like it was a big deal and something he had no obligation whatsoever to do.

Those articles were great to read.

I knew there wasn't going to a wedding last night, I just knew it wasn't happening. I kinda thought it was going to be Madison to pull the plug too. I am glad she was strong enough to know she deserved more from a spouse.

Didn't see the twist with Toby and Kate coming, they always gets us.

I did LOVE Kate's wedding gown, OMG the sparkle. She was just beaming and beautiful. She finally looked truly happy.

Long wait for season 6.

I just want to add, I love the creators of this show, they sat down from the very beginning a wrote the entire series ahead of time and gave us a great story.
Some creators write season one of a series and its great, but then they have no idea where to take the show and it turns to junk, they should pay attention to this series because this is how it should be done.

Loved the episode.

I LOVE Nicky.

I am very curious to see what happens with Kevin and Madison. Were they together or not in the 5 year time jump? We'll have to see.

So sad for Toby and Kate. I just love them together.

I’m just now jumping on this thread as I needed SOMEONE to talk to about the finale 😂 I think my jaw literally fell to the floor when Kate stepped out of the bathroom.

I knew Madison and Kevin weren’t going to work out (at least in this moment). I was going to be VERY shocked if they went through with the wedding. The whole season, their relationship just hasn’t get right and Madison hit the nail on the head in her speech to him.

I do NOT want Nicky and a Rebecca ending up together. (Like the article above hinted at). It just doesn’t feel right. And why? What could possibly happen (besides Miguel dying maybe?) that would cause them to marry? I don’t like it one bit. I LIKE Rebecca and Miguel.

Toby and Kate. Oh. Em. Gee. So I’ll say I’m glad to know Kate isn’t dead which was an original thought after seeing the finale where Tony was at the house without her. There was a ton of speculation Kate was dead. So I’m happy that’s not the case. But ohhhh man!! They have overcome so much! I’m so sad next season is it but excited to see the story arch of it all.

I hope Nicky and Rebecca don't end up together either. I don't think Miguel dies because I think we saw him at that final scene in the house where Rebecca was dying, or maybe not. Who knows though because the writers have been showing scenes of Nicky and Miguel fighting and not getting along so maybe they will go there. I don't think so though because isn't Rebecca kind of not "of sound mind?" I don't think the family would let her make a life changing decision like divorcing her husband and marrying her dead husbands brother at this point in her life.
