A man allegedly tossed a defenseless puppy and spat in the eyes of a Broward Sheriff's Office detective Thursday afternoon before authorities hauled him off to jail, BSO said Friday.

Detectives witnessed Kevon Gayle, 20, repeatedly punching a black pit bull puppy and then heaving the dog several feet in the air shortly before 2 p.m. at 8201 N. Pine Island Rd. in Tamarac, according to BSO.

Gayle then turned his rage on the arresting deputies. He violently resisted, and once handcuffed, he spat into the face of one of the detectives.

Gayle then turned violent again, cutting the detective. Once BSO got the scene under control, the puppy was taken by Animal Control to the Coral Springs Animal Hospital.

Gayle, who appeared in bond court Friday, faces charges of animal abuse, battery on an officer and resisting arrest. He was held in a Broward jail on a $10,600 bond.

He pleaded no contest in March to a charge of resisting arrest in a prior clash with police

we just found 4 abbandoned kittens tied up in a sock and thrown in the ditch. i cant believe animal abuse is so widespread.

Wow that's horrible! I can't believe people would do such a thing. What a piece of crap he is. My dog was abused before we got her, and couldn't even imagine doing that to a poor defensless animal. It's just wrong! It makes me sooo mad when I hear about that stuff

A few weeks ago, a man hacked at an adorable (SO CUTE!) white puppy's back legs with a knife.

Its terrible to think that people would do that kind of thing

Did you all hear about the soldier who threw a puppy off a cliff? There was debate about whether the puppy was alive or not before he did it. Absolutely disgusting that animal abuse goes on like that.

i think people who do animal abuse should be treated the same way they treated the animal. say the guy throws a cat out a 20 story building. well, he should be thrown off the building. just to see how it feels. i just want to murder all of the people who do animal abuse. it is one of the only things that gets me extemly mad and pissed off.

you know whats sad 2! well 1 day my mom went to get grocey and i was in the car and my mom saw this man in a big truck drop a kitten off the ground and started the truck and ran right over it!!!! that made me cry for days and i saw it!!! it was flopping on the ground and i could watch!!!!
