This is the hardest thing I've ever done....update pg.3

hey there min...

big hugs for you honey! It is tough, and you will make it through. Maybe you could spend some time with your mom looking at pictures, old photos, tell stories. I hope you can enjoy some of her awake time with her. I am glad the caregiver is there for 5 hours, hopefully she can get through some of the personal care stuff for you, therefore allowing you to spend some time with your mom.. just being your mom.

you are in my prayers....

mj

Your mother is so fortunate to have such a wonderful, caring and loving daughter as you. Knowing that she is at home with you, being taken care of and loved has to mean the world to her.

I can't imagine how difficult this is for you. My heart and prayers go out to you.

We did this for my late DMIL 9 years ago. It was rewarding and heartbreaking at the same time. But we felt good, after she was gone, that we were able to do it for her.

Oh, Julie, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I've been following the story and know she has been going downhill somewhat recently.

Two years ago I was doing the same thing for my granny. Hardest thing I've ever done and the most worthwhile thing I ever did. I wouldn't trade those moments for anything in the world.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers. :grouphug:

:grouphug: I'm sure she appreciates it, even if she can't tell you. Take care of yourself, too.

The most meaningful gift in life.....is love.

Your mother is blessed, she is getting so much of it.:thumbsup2:hug:

So sorry that you are having to go thru this, please lean on the hospice workers as much as you need to...that is what they are there for!! Having worked in hospice and sitting with the dying and being there for their families its nice to have a good cry with someone..........

What a lucky mom you have to spend her precious last days, weeks with those who love her the most............

May you find peace when you shall seek in and strength when you need it

((hugs))

I'm so sorry Julie. Do what you can and hang in there.

She's gone.

She was such a sweet lady. Mother to 8, grandmother to 11 and great-grandmother to 4. She suffered so much in the past month. She got dehydrated, was hospitalized, got pumped full of fluids. Then the fluid overload caused further congestive heart failure. A myriad of problems and she went to Rehab so that she could get just strong enough to transfer from wheelchair, to bed, to commode. She worked hard at it until pneumonia took over.

We brought her home on Saturday. Hospice was wonderful support. My sister (who was getting over bronchitis) came to stay the night. Thankfully, we were both with Mom when she took her last breath.

Oh I am so sorry for your loss. This thread has choked me up because I am thinking of my own mother who has been sick lately. She is 81 and so independent, lives alone, and is always on the go. First it was pneumonia then the doctor screwed up her high blood pressure medicine (put her on 2 kinds) so she came home one day from the hospital and went back the next because she blacked out and fell out of her kitchen chair. I have been at the hospital lately- she came home yesterday. During his last stay she was put in CCU because her heart rate went way up- she has atrial fibulation (sp?) so now they have that under control as well. It is so hard to see her like this. The other the nurses were taking her for a walk using a walker and I am thinking to myself "This isnt my mother." I am so used to her seeing her so active.

I'm so sorry Julie. I hope your entire family will find peace.
