This is ridiculous

I'll try harder next time?
We had early appointments at BBB. We decided to get in a 25 minute line because we finished early. I had fps for after lunch but canceled them when I saw the "liw" wait time. I tried to get them back when I realized we weren't moving but they were gone. We stuck it out but I know the limitations of my 2. 25 minutes no problem. Over an hour, especially not moving, meltdown time. No harm no foul. I'll hang on to it next time until I'm sure.

We had that happen a lot last week where MDE and/or Lines were way off. Also, I'm a big fan of TP, but when it differed significantly from MDE it was usually wrong. Several times we went up to a ride where MDE said 40 mins and TP said 20 and you could tell by looking at the line that MDE was correct. That wasn't the case last year but we saw that this year.

Last May I got in line for what the sign said was a 60 minute wait on Soaring. After waiting in line for 2 hours and 10 minutes I finally got on the ride. Would not have gotten in line had I known.

That has happened to us. It was during MVMCP. The wait became over an hour and it was supposed to be 20 minutes. While the parade was going on, the characters stopped meeting with guests because they didn't want some little girl meeting Rapunzel and then walking out and seeing her in the parade.
Just so no one gets confused by this: Disney doesn't stop meet and greets during parades or shows, even if those characters are in the parade/show. They wouldn't have stopped the Rapunzel meet for that reason.

Yes, at 1 time I looked at my Lines app and it said the Rapunzel/ Cinderella m&g was closed and I wondered how could s love person m&g ne coded. All I could think of was some child getting sick on one of the princesses.

We were behind a little girl on a wishes trip at Christmas and the Princess's spent extra long time with her. It was very moving. Nobody minded the extra wait. It's not an exact science. I would rather CM did this than speed people along because the line outside has some number on it from a red tag ( lol re the boring souvenir ) . It's what keeps Disney human.

More than once we've been in line to meet a character with a large extended family (like 10+ people) in front of us. When there are that many people in one group who want to chat with the character, take a group photo, take individual family photos, take individual selfie photos, have the photopass people take each photo with different cell phones and cameras, etc., it takes awhile. If the wait time says 25 minutes but you happen to have a few families like this in front of you, I can totally see how that wait time could significantly increase.

Thought I would also mention..... if a CM gives a guest a lanyard with a red tag (their way of checking times from entry of the line to entry of the attraction) and the guest chooses to pocket it for a souvenir or they forget to give it to the CM, this will affect the line time as it has not been correctly reported. This is why CMs might give it to a guest and then give it to another one only 20 down the line.

I was given those red tags quite a few times. How can they tell how long the wait is by doing that?
I can never work it out.
Thanks.

OP I feel your pain. We got stuck on a ride once and I ended up racing to my CRT reservations. They were just closing up but they let me up anyway.

stuff happens.
sometimes you just have to go with the flow.
you had the experience that the line was longer than stated but i'm sure you've also had pleasant surprises where the line ends up being shorter than stated.
take the good with the bad and don't let it get you mad.

Agree with this! Many many times it's been less than stated. A 20 minute wait has been walk in at end of the que. also had things take longer. We generally don't get in lines close to an ADR unless we have fast passes. We just people watch, take in the little details or something. Sure it can be annoying, but we choose not to let it bother us, after all, we are at Disney!

Going with the flow is much easier when you aren't dealing with toddlers and young children.

They time how long it takes for the red tag to get through the line.

Ahh i see.
So when the CM gives the tag over to the guest. He times it? Then when the CM receives it what does he/she do? Ring through to the first PM with a time?

The red card is scanned right before they hand it to a guest. Once that guest gets to the head of the line, it is handed over to a different CM and the red card is scanned again.
