I already have the add on bug - you posters on this board are very contagious. It started with this board and then my DF (68 yrs old) when he found out I was using the DVC points to pay for the large family trip in Jan/04 said..hmmm maybe you should buy some more or we should.

Great, just what I need another rollercoaster planning/should I/should I not session to deal with as I get over buying my first 270pts

I think, it would be nice to go to VB every 2-3 years or yes get that BWV standard view or an OKW grand villa unit every so often and on and on...

Contagious....very contagious

Thanks

this board is just too dangerous... ;)
we totally encourage each other to add-on, whether intentionally or not.
it's really financially unhealthy :p

Purchased DVC BCV in May 03
First trip home Jan/04

If you just bought and your first trip using your points isn't for another 7 months, instead of rushing to buy more points, why don't you just mellow out and see how you like it? Have you blown the 270 points on the one reservation? You do understand that just with the 270 points you are already committed to paying another $1000 a year (which will go up in the future) for dues - right? You can add on at any time - there will always be points available to add-on - what's the hurry? Are you really looking to build up points and get to 700 or 1000 like some people around here?

As I've stated before, people are welcome to spend their money on whatever they like, and if DVC makes them so happy, then great for them. But sometimes you can have too many points. Don't let the "happy talk" around here cloud your vision. You are making a serious financial decision and commitment. If you are financially well-off, I congratualte you and you should go for it by all means. If you aren't financially well-off, then you should sit down and think about why you bought DVC in the first place and think if you really need more than 270.

LOL! We started out with 230 and almost imediately added on another 150.

Ahhh, bless you! You've made my day easier! Detox will be shorter today.

We have enough points. Couldn't get away to use more even if we had them. I suppose we could afford more, but (gasp) there are other things on which to spend our discretionary income. Actually, except when I'm on the boards, I don't even think about points and I don't want more points.

All that said, I still get caught up in wanting more points. Reading and posting here triggers it! It is a powerful and insidious thing! After every session on the DVC Forum, I must go through a kind of "detox". What I really should do is quit reading this DVC board. But that's not possible without intensive therapy and anyway, I don't think there are any professionals out there qualified in breaking Disney addictions. So I'm stuck with my daily "detox" routine. :teeth: If that fails, there's always DH - he is absolutely not addicted and has no trouble saying "No. Are you crazy"?

Go WILD!!!

I hear you Jaysue! I just bought DVC - what 2 weeks ago? I started out with 200 then a week later called to add 25 more. Then on Tuesday, I had her change the 25 to 35. I am stopping there:p 235 is great for us. Maybe more in a couple years! But you have 270! That is great - but hey if you can afford a few more, why not?

Hey, it's not just the board. DH ( the conservative economist/accountant) was the one who wanted to add more points when BWV was about to sell out. Then a year ago, after a trip to Disney with the extended family he got the bug to bring them all again but in a GV. When I laid it on him that we could only go every other year if we were going to spend that many points at a time AND he could just forget GV at OKW as we only had a 7 month window there, he was all for adding on at OKW.

He's never been on these boards. It's DVC that's habit-forming.

I'm going through the same thing and it IS from the DVC boards. I don't REALLY need more points, but I really really WANT more every time I come here! LOL!

Hi my name is Ron .... and I'm a DVC points addict. It has been two years since my last add-on, but last week I fell off the wagon. When I heard new points were available at BWV I got another 120.
My wife and child did nothing to stop me, I only hope the extra BWV points sell quickly so I won't be forced to think about buying even more! I feel so happy (um I mean ashamed...)

jaysue... Don't feel bad. I did two add-ons within a month of my first purchase. You just start to thinking all of those things you can do with those points and then well if I only had a few more I could do this or that.... The good news was that if you financed with Disney and you add-on within the first month, they will still give you the special 1% first puchase discount off your financing (that is if they are still doing that), that made my decision even easier.

:teeth: so true! LOL

and, yes, thank you SlyHubby for the sober advice. it's rare to see that on this board, as we are all always dreaming in Fantasyland here. ;)

We bought a resale at OKW in Sept. 2001. Added on when BCV opened. With the extra points from the add-on, we decided to cruise on the Magic. That led to another resale contract at OKW, so we can cruise every other year and still go to WDW alternate years. Then I read about the BWV points, and SS opening, and I just love BCV.... No, no, no, no. I can't. Really! Diana

I wonder if it is possible to have web-conference psychotherapy for "disneyvacationanitis" problem

"disneyvacationanitis" - def. the inability to avoid buying additional DVC points after an initial purchase, the uncontrollable urge to call your guide and say "what use year's have points left" - ok "sign me up for another XX points", especially prevelant around first time buyers, readers of boards such as the DIS and when points become available at new resorts or through conversions or resales.

Be careful how you approach these victims, they are extremely optimistic, they are known to wear mouse ears and other articles of clothing with mice on them and they are delusional about Orlando.

Known to be especially dangerous during such times as Early December, Easter and above all else during "Adventure" Season. If you spot disneyvacationanitis "homa-sapiens" please avoid them and their cunning contagious point acquiring ways and desires - consider yourself warned!!!

 :earseek:

LOL this board is **** out the correct prefix for the human species - spelling error intentional

Thanks

I told my DW I had a dream last night about WDW which is very unusual( because Im usually daydreaming about WDW). So now Im stuck on these boards for the past 3 hrs trying to get my fix.

I came upon your post and recalled our add-on. We purchased last yr in early Jan. Before we even used our 1st points, our guide called us to make us aware that there were a few points still available for our home resort at VWL for our Dec use yr.

Well thats just what I needed to hear!! By Apr. we were adding on 50 more and I aint even seen the place yet (we bought sight unseen). So far I just think about adding on more but then I weigh out how much we owe right now and if we buy more pts will we be able to afford to make the trek and enjoy our time once we get there. Then Im back to daydreaming again.

Good Luck with your add-on!!

I want to add on too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We purchased a resale at BWV a few months ago and last week when on saw on these boards that more BWV points had opened up my first instinct was to of course do and ADD ON!!! I mentioned it to DH and he just laughed and said maybe in a few years, ugh! I know realistically we are fine with the amount of points we bought, but just the mention of new, additional points from Disney gave me the FEVER!!!!!!

Okay, I really need to go to detox also now.

We bought into DVC last year. Our first trip home is in June and we added on already last month at BWV:p
