Can you swim in the ocean at either Hilton Head or Vero or both? I can't find it anywhere? Are either/both life-guarded?

People were swimming in the ocean at Vero Beach when we were there a few weeks ago. There are signs posted up and down the beach in the area stating that swimming is at your own risk as there are no lifeguards.

It's a beautiful and super relaxing resort. We loved it there.

VB is a much rougher surf than HHI, but you can swim at both. VB does not have lifeguards, but on the north end of the beach there are lifeguards at the public entrance to the beach and we have seen them manage the swimmers in front of the VB resort at that end. We've been impressed with their diligence in managing everything they can see. We've seen them hop on an ATV and come halfway down the VB beach and whistle in swimmers.

HHI (I believe) have guards. Plus the surf is very small and much more acceptable for little-ones.

HHI beach is long, wide and beautiful and you certainly can swim. We have been for the last four summers and enjoy the warm water(compared to our cool new england beaches). Once we did encounter jellyfish warnings and saw some folks being treated for stings. There are lifeguards and beach equipment vendors along the beach. You can rent chairs right infront of HHI disney's beach house if you need. We are headed there June 6 and plan on hitting the ocean and the pools!

Have not been to VB and really have no plans on doing so...love HHI as you can see!
