Disappointed doesn’t really cover it. This is what we should expect from Photopass for our memories?

Nine pictures taken. Four exactly like first picture, five like second picture. They look like someone used a Polaroid from the 70s and let it develop for about 5 seconds.

Glad our cherished memories were captured by a professional. Good think I used my iPhone and got 1 picture.

In all my years of going to WDW I've not had something like that happen. It looks like something must have happened with the camera like the flash malfunctioned? I'm glad you at least got 1 decent photo from the experience. I hope your other Photopass pictures where better!

I guess Kylo is darker than I thought.

(Sorry your pictures aren’t better, that’s pretty sad.)

Definitely a flash issue. Sorry, how terribly disappointing.

Just as an FYI, it's not your fault in the least, but if you don't see the flash go off you should say something. I had a photographer in the world showcase shooting into the afternoon sun once and I knew he was supposed to be using a flash there. I stopped and asked him if there was something wrong with his flash, and it turns out he had a battery issue, which he stopped and fixed.

Did you by chance have them take some on a camera of your own (I hope??)

Unfortunately the photographers are not professionals. I would absolutely complain about the terrible quality of these photos, though.

Ahhhhh....the problem appears to be that the photographer had the camera set to "Dark Side".

While a lot of the photographers aren't what I'd call "professional", my understanding is that they receive training and you shouldn't get results like this. I've never seen photos that bad (where I didn't even see the character) - although I can't say that I usually expect great photos in general. Agree with @mom2rtk - an equipment/flash issue most likely (which the photographer should've caught). Good that you got the salvageable photo on your phone.

Neither of us thought to check for flashes. I was too caught up in my sons excitement - the youngest you can barely see. Just frustrating.

I did send an email and attached all 9 photos. I got the standard “we’re always improving on quality, thanks for your feedback” reply.

This is why I hand them my camera.

ETA: OP, are you still there? Or are you home. If you're still there, go to the front desk and show them, go to Guest Relations in the park. Hopefully you saw these before you left.

If you are home now, you have emailed already, try calling and getting a supervisor's supervisor with a direct email to them. It also wouldn't hurt to possibly take to WDW's official Facebook and Twitter pages with the photos you put on here.

They won't want bad publicity out there of awful photopass products, so they'd probably be willing, very quickly, to do whatever to get you to take the posts down. Just an idea if nothing else works.

That's very disappointing. But camera issues do happen, unfortunately. I've had pictures missing entirely and when I tried to find them they told me that the camera had malfunctioned and there were no pictures from that set.

Interestingly, when I hand them my camera... for indoor or outdoor, I have my camera set to No Flash. My pictures come out fine due to the proper lighting already in place at the M&G site. I've only had 1 or 2 photos that didn't come out, those were at night on Main St. where we were past the shops and the lights are a little more sparse and that was on me for not changing the setting. However, I've encountered no issues otherwise.

As far as photos missing? We always find tons that aren't there. Again, another reason I'm glad I have my camera. As soon as we get done a M&G, I go back and make sure the pictures took and are on my memory card. I'm not putting all my apples in someone else's basket when capturing memories that I can't repeat.

I'm glad you at least got some that were good! As far as missing photos, you can usually locate them easily and add them to your account!

I don't know which is worse, too dark or too light!

Different days, different parks, different photographers. All the shots from these sets are washed out like that.

I went to the Photopass store at Disney Springs and they said there was nothing to be done and it was just a fluke.

I definitely have got value from the Memory Maker that came with my AP (my sister is doing the DCP so she and her friends have been able to take advantage of it!) but it's still disappointing to queue up for photos and not get anything usable.

We have had this same washout problem before with several pictures. And have several pictures get lost. One time it was our MNSSHP meet pictures that we had waited over and hour to meet the character. Thankfully, I had them also take the picture with our camera! But we also lost one of the special magic shots that we waited for, and of course those cannot be taken with your camera.

But if the camera is anticipating no flash, it compensates with other settings. If the Photopass camera was set to anticipate a flash, and it didn't fire, that's a problem.

A camera set to auto will do OK in situations like this. But I'm quite certain Photopass has manual settings dialed in which include an expectation of the flash firing.

And yes, definitely don't put all your eggs in one basket. I've seen too many similar stories here about how Photopass failed in some way or another. We still use it, but we have them take photos on our own camera as well.

Yeah, one of the missing photos was a magic shot. No idea what it was even of as they didn't bother to put it in because the photo was so washed out.
