This is not fair, bad business

Lorix2,
I hope everything goes well for you! Good Luck and Keep us posted!:sunny:

We've had this happen to us a few times. But the dentist or doctors office just sends us a check for the overpayment.

LoriX2, I'm glad that you are getting everything resolved. This situation reminded me of what happened to me once, so I have to share. I took my son to a doctor for a first visit and because I knew they weren't on my insurance plan, I paid them in full at the time of the visit. It was around $350. Then I wrote a note to my son's insurance asking them to add the doctor to his insurance because there were no other specialists that he could see in the area. His insurance agreed and instead of paying me (which I had asked them to), they paid the doctor's office. By the time I figured it out, the doctor's office had already cashed the check. And get this, they wouldn't give us the money until my child's next two visits to the doctor (he had been back two more times by this time) cleared through their insurance department. Even though they were paid twice and these visits had nothing to do with the first which they were paid double for!! We still go to that doctor, but they will never be paid up front again no matter what! Sandra

Wow I really disagree with this statement. The dentist did nothing wrong!!!! They received an insurance check, probably deposited it, and intended to reimburse their client.

What exactly does this professional have to learn??

As I understand it, the OP said "My dentist refuses to call the ins. co about it and said "it's my responsibility." Neither one will cooperate..."

The dentist's office could be a little more accomondating. If they'd call the insurance office directly, perhaps things could be cleared up. Unless I misunderstood something.

Sounds good, but if you have ever tried, as a provider, to communicate and/or get something done with an insurance company.... you might have second thoughts. They are usually much less than willing to help. It might be 10 phone calls later and still no hope.
