This is kind of exciting...

Not all stores in PA will have beer/wine. Only a few for now. It's kind of an experiment. Of course all the beer distributors are against it because it will decrease their sales.

I can't imagine not being able to buy alcohol when I want to buy it. The only time we can't buy booze is between 2 am and 6 am, so frankly, I don't even notice.

Oh you can buy it when you want to...as long as you don't mind going where the state says you have to go to buy it AND it's during the hours that the stores are selling. :rotfl:

FWIW, I lived in PA for the first 50 years of my life (only been in NJ for 3 years and they have pretty much the same laws). It's no big deal. It's something you get used to and plan for. The majority of people who seem to have a problem with it are those who have moved here from other places.

Another poster mentioned wine in Giant. We have a Giant...no Wegmans either. I'll bet Sams Club will be in on this in no time...maybe even Walmart?

I think Wegmans found some loophole in the law because they have a 'restaraunt' in their stores. So it's kind of like a Chili's selling a six pack. I can't see Sams Club qualifying.

But I could be wrong.

Distributors are fine but I like to try different things. I'd hate to spend a ton on a case and not like it.

Drink that 6-pack and you will. :teeth:

W8 with beer goggles...I fear her photobucket even more now.

I don't know about your Walmart but I need a few before I go to mine :eek::rotfl:

probably not to most of you but to Pennsylvanians, it's pretty cool:banana: I was in the local Wegman's last night and bought a six pack of beer:banana: I didn't need it or want it, I bought it just because I could:rotfl: Finally, beer sales in the grocery store:woohoo: I'm still trying to get over the state stores being open on Sundays:eek::rotfl:

WHAT:scared1:

Was this the Wegman's in Allentown?

Very exciting:banana:

yep, according to this article they did find a loophole. Apparently, Wegman's is a "restaurant" that sells beer...not a "grocery store" that sells beer:rolleyes1 Whatever, it makes me happy:banana:

The stores in NY just tried to get a measure passed that would allow wine to be sold in grocery stores but the wheels fell off it. The liquor store owners put up a huge fight. No wine or hard liquor in the grocery stores here.

Road trip to Downingtown!:cool1: Ok so it is only 20 minutes away but that is huge in PA for a grocery store to have beer!:goodvibes

No WAY!!!
:banana::banana::banana:

If you do not live in PA (or if you don't drink, of course) you cannot understand how WAY cool this is. In fact, on Sunday I was picking up some grocery items and I thought how nice it would be to wind down the nice weekend with a glass or 2 of wine with dinner. Of course, I have no wine in the house because acquiring a bottle takes an act of God in this state (ok, I exaggerate, but let's just say it's far from convenient)...so I was out of luck. Drank some stale beer from last 4th of July's picnic.

So fill me in, when did this start? Where? Oh I'm going to become such an alcoholic :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:!

At least guys have cool drive through liquor stores.
We still can't buy alcohol here on Sundays except in restaurants.

Probably. Our local Wal-Marts sell beer, wine and various malt liquors (mikes hard ..., wine coolers, etc). Although in Indiana, only liquor stores can sell the hard stuff.

Bringing up this older thread once again because I wanted to add a store to the list...I was at our Weis Market in Wyomissing (near Reading) and they had a big liquor license application hanging in the window. What does that mean? Pending? This is where I shop ALL the time, so I may never be sober again ;)

JK!

Shut Up:eek: :banana::banana::rotfl: Congratulations:)

Congratulations!! I don't even like beer, but I think the law is ridiculous. I can't even buy my wine coolers on sunday and they are just glorified Koolaid.

Our stores can sell wine and some alcohol, but not on sunday.

I'm so happy that ya'll are so happy!!:yay::yay::woohoo::yay::yay:

This coming from a girl that worked at a drive-thru daiquiri shop. We also sold beer and mixed drinks through the window. :confused3 The only thing you couldn't buy through the window were jello shots. You had to pull over for that.

Is is state wide thing or just local townships? I haven't been reading the papers. The store I shop didn't have any on Sat. I'll have to check out Giant today.

It must be a local thing because we don't have it here yet. I don't get the paper, but I am sure it will make headlines IF this happens. If we get it at our Giant, it will be nice to be able to pick up a 6 pack instead of buying a whole case, especially if you want to try out a new flavor or take it to a BYOB dinner!

I'm assuming this is just a PA thing, is it state wide? In NY we've sold beer, malts, etc in grocery stores (walmart, sam's, tops and wegmans as well as all convenient stores) for as long as I can remember. Like another poster said...they tried to get wine in grocery stores here a while ago but it was a no go. I loved orlando though, being able to buy my champagne in Super target with the rest of my groceries was great!

Here in Ohio, we have beer and wine on Sundays :yay:
But...No Wegman's...:sad2: I wish we had a Wegman's!!

I'm pretty open-minded about booze sales, but that's disturbing :laughing:. You all be careful driving around down there!

It seems to be happening one store at a time.
