This is in poor taste, right?

My son (first grade) saw a t-shirt online that he wants. On the front it says, "Honk if you're about to run me over." He thinks it's hilarious (I kinda do, too), but since he's so young it's kind of morbid or in poor taste, don't you think?

I just wanted to make sure I'm not being too p.c. or something. What do you think?

I think with the recent news of that poor little girl getting run over on the beach, it is probably in poor taste. I wouldn't want to take the chance and offend someone over something like a child being hit with a car.

That's what I was thinking, too.

I think it is funny but I also bought my nephew a shirt when he was a new born that said "They shake me". If someone is offended by it they can get over themselves because I really don't care who is offended by what.

My youngest brother was run over by a car (he lived) and he used to have a shirt that said "speed bump".

:lmao: Good for your brother! I'm glad he's ok. ;)

I would just hate to add to anyone's pain.

Just showed it to my boys. They're still laughing.

Harmless - come on cant something be funny anymore w/o offending someone? I would let my kids wear it. Offended people will not cease to exist he he doesn't get the shirt. They'll just find something else to be offended by.

Ha...I bought my nephew the same shirt.

I personally think it is funny and would buy it, but I also don't get offended easily.

As long as it has no profanity go for it... plus now a days people get offended my the most stupidest :confused3 I think its funny:thumbsup2

I think it's funny. I also don't live in the PC world, it is just too silly for me. When I was in my 20's there was a t shirt kiosk in the mall and I got this shirt that said on the front: There was an electric chair and it said take a life, take a seat. I couldn't give a rip about what people thought.

I have also had things on my license plate, that I don't give a rip about what people thought, they didn't pay for it.

It's not so much that I care about what people think, but, like I said in a response to Fire Dancer, I'd just hate to add to anyone's pain.

Me to, about Firedancer's brother.

LIfe is all about joy and pain. I recently lost one of my German SHepards. THen last week, going to DQ, I saw one that looked just like her, she was a white/tan mix. But I can't go up to that person and say get rid of that dog because it reminds me of my dog that has passed on.

I think it's funny, wouldn't have a problem with my kid wearing it.:confused3

ITA, I think its funny but I probably wouldn't buy one for my kids because our family suffers from foot in mouth disease and the first day they would wear it would be the day we met a parent whose child was run over.

I love that shirt. I think that I need several - and a couple need to be tech shirts, so I can wear them when I am out running.

And I would wear one that said "Speed Bump" as well. But then again, I have been run over on multiple occasions (first time when I was six, and she got me once for each year, and I have been hit at least another couple times as a pedestrian, and three or four as a cyclist), so I have a more morbid perspective than others might.

I asked DS16( who was hit by a car when he was 13) if he was offended. He said no, didnt matter either way.

Yeah, it was a weird story that is rather humerus in hind sight. He was riding my bike one day (he was about 14) and someone who had just got their license thought it would be funny if they came up behind him and gently taped him on the bike. Well, they misjudged badly and knocked him under the car. It was a Crown Vic so it was a large car. The front driver side tire went over him and rolled him onto his back and then the rear driver side tire rolled over him.

He got up, walked to one of the neighbors house who we knew and said Mrs. <edited>, can you take me to the hospital, I was just ran over. Well, she didn't believe him until he raised his short and she saw the tire marks.

The doctor said he can't believe he was not only alive but didn't even need a stitch or anything. The car ran right over his pelvis and it wasn't even bruised. Had in been a few inches either way he probably would have been dead according to the doctor.

It may not sound funny but you have to know my brother. He was the kid that would always break the last light bulb or break the window with the 1 in 1,000 shot playing ball in the yard. Once the shock of the incident subsided we all had a laugh right there in the hospital because it was kind of fitting that of all the people in the world that this would happen to it was him. I guess this could go on that weird things you laugh at thread.

I love that...do you remember where you got it???

I don't think I can post the site because the title has what might be a banned word in it and there are also some more offensive (if you are offended by such things) shirts there. If you Google "they shake me baby shirt" it will be the first link.

Yes, I think you do need it!

I think instead of that shirt you need something with flashing lights and a horn  I'm glad you are okay after being run over so many times :)

What about you? Your first thought wasn't "It's not very funny if it happens to you" or something similar?
