This is a fish tank question,.....

We have had a rena filstar for almost 20 years. Side story, DH and I came back from disney trip and DS was setting up a 30 gallon tank he bought for us as a surprise. Anyway, filter has started leaking. I looked for a new O ring kit. But only to find the filter was discontinued 18 months ago. The only place I can find a new kit (and I've looked at many places - all out of stock) it will cost with shipping $55.

Has anyone had this issue, and perhaps found an 0 ring that works from home depot?

I'd ask this on the Community Board. That has the mishmash of subjects and someone may be able to assist you there.

You may consider a new filter, if that one is 20 years old. Otherwise, do you have a local fish club? Actually, you may check into that option anyways because used filters don't really hold much value, and you can probably get a decent used one dirt cheap. Or check craigslist for someone getting rid of a full aquarium setup (filter included) and pilfer the filter and anything else of use, then pass the tank along.
