This holiday season I would rather stay home..

than go to MIL's Christmas choir concert. Have gone for last 12 years and it seems to get worse every year. Nobody wants to go but does as to not upset 'momma'. Think we may grow a set this year and not go.

I know the feeling, but it was my daughters chorus... When she was in middle school they had the best teacher, he picked great songs everyone had a great time. Then she went to the High School. That teacher picked songs from way way way way way way back... mostly latin. Everyone complained. I was so happy when she graduated. I would use the 24 hr flu....and if you have to go, bring the ipod

Ugh. I hate to go to amateur concerts unless the group is really good. Yes, Virginia, I am a music snob! Bad music is like an icepick to my eardrums. I think your DH needs to make an appearance (if he can stand it) but perhaps you have a "meeting" or other pressing obligation.

I have the same challenge sometimes. Just realize it's only 1-2 hours, and that it's important to her that you're there. Think of other ways you "waste" time (TV, DISboards, etc. ) and think of it as giving her the gift of your time.
