This Guy Was So Annoying (Vent)!!!

I'm sorry you had to go through that OP. I wouldn't have been so nice to him.

The last flight I was on wasn't terrible but this one lady thought the plane revolved around her. She was very trashy. She was the last person on the plane, late too. And when she got on she saw someone she knew and stood in the aisle talking the whole time. She also had like 10 large carryon items that she couldn't fit down the aisle. We were delayed taking off because of her chit chatting. And the whole topic of conversation was about how she lost 5 lighters so far because she wasn't allowed to bring them on a plane. You'd think you'd learn after the first two. You could hear the people around me all getting annoyed with her. And the kicker, once we finally took off and the captain said that we still needed to stay seated, she got up and continued to talk to her friend. Some people have no class.

And don't get me started on the people who always sit in front of us on Southwest and recline their seats the whole way. Sorry for all those swift knee jerks because neither of us could move and our knees were getting bruised.

I totally agree with you. I NEVER recline the seat because I know how uncomfortable it is when the person in front of me reclines the seat.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!!!!

The most I move my seat back is maybe an inch or two because I'm considerate of the person behind me. You can already see how crammed everyone is in their seats, don't make it worse and have your seat back in my lap.

And I think that's the very polite thing to do! I always check in back to see who is in back of me. If it's an adult I don't recline at all unless I'm really planning on sleeping, in which case I just recline a little (would be different on a red eye when the person in back of me is reclined, too). If it's a child in a carseat there's no way I would recline--I know how tight that already is and how tempting it is for a child to kick the seat. If nobody is behind me I feel free to recline.

In general, and not just when flying, if we could all put ourselves in the shoes of the other person and imagine how what we do affects others I think that there would be less frustration and anger and our interactions with others would be a lot more pleasant.

But then again, when walking into a store I'm the one who holds the door open for someone pushing a stroller or other who otherwise has a tough time getting into the door and I pass the door off to the person in back of me when they are able to handle the door, as opposed to letting it slam in their face.

I spent one flight with my book on top of a ladies' head because she reclined into my lap. I had the book in my lap at first, but once she reclined, there was no room for me to read it without placing it on top of chair, on her head.

She didn't seem to care, because we flew like that for over an hour.

This was the worst that it ever was for me. Her seat had to be broken for her to recline as much as she had. I've never seen a seat recline that far before or since. When she first reclined, I know that I screamed because she came back at me so fast and hard. I'm lucky that I wasn't reaching for my purse under her seat because I'd have gotten a concussion.

As a frequent flyer to Germany (my next trip is next weekend) I have seen just about everything on a plane. During my trip last month I had an out of control 2 year old behind me. Thank goodness for my noise cancelling headphones.

I hate it when the person in front of me reclines. I NEVER recline my seat for two reasons. One because I know how uncomfortable it is for the person behind me and two because I find it very uncomfortable for myself. I have been on over 40 flights, so I tend to be as considerate as possible to those around me because I know what its like to have the most annoying person on the plane around you. One flight, I had a very tall guy sitting in front of me. He reclined his seat all the way. His head was in my face and the little kid behind me was kicking my seat. That was miserable.

Totally agree with this. On one flight, I was watching a movie on my laptop and the person in front of me reclined their seat and nearly carcked my laptop. It got caught in her headrest and I was trying to get it loose. The woman's son noticed and told her and she leaned back and said "sorry" but didn't move the chair up so I could get it loose. By the way, she wasn't even leaning back in her chair, she was itting up talked to someone. Ugh!

Ugh, how terrible to be next to a man like that. On my last flight to MCO I sat next to a gentleman who was quite a talker. He was very pleasant, had nice things to say and chat about. He talked almost the entire flight. Oh, did I mention it was a red-eye? I purposely picked the red-eye so the sweetpea sleep and I could try to sleep. I have insomnia so I doubted I would sleep much anyways, but the second I started to drift off he would nudge me to tell me something. Nice guy, but not what I needed on the red-eye.
