This freecycler has nerve

Geez, that drives me NUTS!!! We have several of those people in my neck of the woods, always asking for something, but never posting items for free. One gal always says- "please let me know ASAP". Totally irks me. :sad2:

And here I asked for wood scraps and old jeans and flannel shirts so my cub scouts could make scarecrows...and my moderator told me I could ask for either the clothes or the wood, not both.

what I noticed recently on our freecycle is we are also hooked up to Cheapcycle and I have, more than once seen an item that was given to someone on freecycle then being posted by the person who got it, for free, for sale on cheapcycle.

Extravagant items:
vehicles; buildings; expensive jewelry; high tech stuff..
What??? You mean I can't ask for a mobile home on FreeCycle? Well, shoot...

Seriously, though - call me a cynic, but it sounds to me like the OP is trying to 'trap' the person who stole her original stroller. Although why she'd think the thief would be giving it away instead of selling it on EBay or Craigslist :confused3

Freecycle drives me crazy lately. :headache: The wants are turning into very greedy people and at least I am not alone in my thinking. :headache:

yep...... People are getting out of hand:sad2:

I would almost consider finding the worst umbrella stroller that I could find, and using duct tape to tape an umbrella onto it for the "sun shade", and then somehow secure any small basket that you can to the bottom of it and take a picture. And then include a second picture with the "rain shield", which would work wonderfully if you could find a clear plastic 50 gallon trash sack to throw over it.

It's everywhere. Just the other night some guy posted that he wanted an xbox and a truck...wow, really? Me too!

The ones that irk me are the no shows or the ones that want the item delivered to them.

Wow. she'll travel a WHOLE 10 MILES!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That's what I thought. She's certainly willing to go out of her way...

Example: We replaced our wood fence with a block wall fence. The wood fence was less than 5 years old and still in good condition so we offered all the panels on Freecycle but kept the gate hardware for the new gate we installed. The guy that picked it up got snotty with my husband when he saw the hardware was missing. I believe the exact comment was... "How am I supposed to install the gate without the metal pieces, dude" Lovely.

That's shameful. :sad2: As much money as you saved them, you would think they would be thrilled to just have to buy the hardware, wouldn't you? I just don't get that thought process. What a jerk! :headache:

And this is why I quit freecycle. The rules are over the top. I mean really why can't you ask for both. Its for a good cause. Then some groups say you can't give a reason as to why you want items. That bothers me. I felt like the freecycle people were too controlling. I would rather list items as free on craigslist.

As for the OP that post was obviously over the top. I would just laugh and ignore it.

again today we got another request for a car along with a sob story of how a young mother with 3 kids is living back at home with mommy and daddy and needs a car to get back and forth to work...i wish ours had rules about sob stories cuz after awhile it gets annoying, everyone wants you to feel sorry for them..sorry to say but the economy is tough on most of us

Same here, although not the rules so much as the controlling witch who runs ours. She is so nasty to people and heaven forbid if you don't word your post just right. I actually quit because of her but a year or so later I had stuff to get rid of so I joined again with a different email. She's still there unfortunately!

:offtopic: Sounds like my SIL - never held down a job and has always been completely dependent on the govt. & the kindness of some family members. Took her to lunch this summer, she orders the 'mixed fruit' as her side - when it comes she tells the waitress she doesn't like anything but the pineapple, & asks for a dish of just pineapple. Moments later, while I'm sure the kitchen was either cutting pineapple, or picking pineapple chunks out of the vat of mixed fruit, she complains bitterly about how long it's taking to get her pineapple. That was the proverbial straw for me - I'm so done with that girl.

Rant over.

Ours was a single mom who hit a deer and totaled her vehicle..needs it for work...do these people not carry insurance on their cars?

Sounds like our MOD. My dh once posted for aluminum cans for my son, who was at the time was recycling those for money. She got really snippy with him and told him he couldnt ask for those because he would be profiting off of them. I can see items that could be used, but something you will just throw away??? She monitored all of his posts after that and picked them apart. A month later she was asking for the cans. :headache:

We had one person ask for an Ipod Touch. I don't think so.

I've also had people say they were coming for an item and never show up. It's free guys.

Our moderator has decided we can't post that we are putting items out after a garage sale. She doesn't want people wasting gas to come by if there isn't anything out they want.

Often people only carry liability, which will repair someone else's car if they are at fault, but will not repair their own. It's less expensive, but if you're going to do that, and you need your car, then you need to make sure you can replace your car if something happens.

Did anyone else notice that the original post did not mention the condition the stroller has to be in? I.E. clean, like new, etc?? Oh, and the color should match her vehicle? I would expect those kinds of demands from someone who sounds so entitled.
