We have Dec UY. In early Feb 2008 I banked our remaining points because we were certain we would not be returning until late 2009. Well my neice who lives in Kissemme (sp) just called to inform me of her wedding date,Feb 2009. Oh darn another excuse to go homr to OKW
Just got off the phone with MS to book and was told my banked points (which I want to use first) are not available til Dec 2008. I told MS that the reservation "IS" after Dec 2008 and was still told they can not be touched and the points needed would all come from my 2008 allotement. At this point I am becoming very irritated and asked to speak to a manager, who all seem to be out at the moment. Are they right or should I call back hoping to get a differant CM or demand to speak to a manager?

They are NOT right. A reservation for February '09 is in your '08 use year, so YES, you can ask that they use those banked points first. You would not be able to book any stay prior to Dec. 1.'08 with them, but this clearly is within your '08 use year.

Thanks to all of you. I thought maybe I had missed a new banking rule or lost my mind. Pulled out my planner as soon as I got home to verify it myself and I will be calling first thing in the AM to straighten out and suggest that CM X get more training.

Your 2007 points that you banked into your 2008 use year can be used for any 2008 UY reservation. To say that only regular 2008 UY points could be used and not banked 2008 UY points indicates the CM is confused somehow. (Maybe incorrectly thinking those 'banked' points can only be used during your 2009 UY?)

Call back and I'm sure you'll get a CM who can make that reservation for you using banked points.

After a run around with two differant MS CM's this morning and getting my blood pressure to the boil point a manager finally corrected the sitution and booked our stay with borrowed pts first. The only thing that really got me was when the manager asked if they could help in any other way, "Train you staff better as they do not seem to know the banking , borrowing or booking quidelines very well"

Well not really, the first CM was the one who I talked to yesterday, so only one other CM seemed to be in the dark, today . As for tomorrow

That's a bit frightening. I'm a terrible banker and borrower. My points could be really messed up by a misinformed CM. Glad you got everything worked out.

THat's exactly why I have everything figured out and on paper before I call. Then I have the web page open while I'm on the phone so I can see in real time that it is done correctly before I get off the phone! I also always write down the MS Castmember's name just in case!

Are you referring to dvcmember.com? If so I didn't realize it was real time.

The website, as far as having newly made reservations show up, is almost always in real time, provided those reservations are made with member points and not developers points.

There can be delays, though, as we know how flaky the member website can be.

Flaky, thats an understatement, could not even bank points. Thats why I had no idea it was live or close to it.

Yep, I've watched as my points and trips show up while I'm on the phone with MS. I clear everything with the CM and then do a refresh to make sure it shows up correctly before I get off the phone.
