This could be interesting. (long)

113 bucks a day!!?? That's more than a one day admission ticket!! That is truely extortion. Not a lot of people are going to shell out that kind of money a day for this so called "magic pass." This is just gonna make the stand-by lines even longer. This better not come to the American parks.

Well actually they do sell quite easy.

A friend of mine is CM in Paris and works in the Disney hotel. He himself sells them and people just buy them without complains.

I had a business professor years ago that spent an entire day on the concept that discrimination isn't illegal. You discriminate against people that fail a test by not giving them a college degree. That is not illegal. Discriminate against a woman by saying she can't have a certain job, that is illegal. There is no particular exclusion saying that you have to give the same access to poor people that you give to "rich" people.

If they limit them to only people staying at Disney property I would think they would be open for a discrimination lawsuit. They wouldn't be giving everybody can opportunity to participate in the program, thus discriminating against those not staying in their hotels! I'm kind of surprised that already hasn't at Universal. Every other perk is available but you might have to pay more but it still is available to everyone.
.

It is discriminating against the poor people who can't afford to stay at Disney! You and I may not look at it that way but I'm sure there are some lawyers out there who would and they would love to sue Disney.

Lawyers know (or should know) the grounds upon which one can win a discrimination lawsuit. This isn't one of them. There are no laws prohibiting discrimination based on financial status. By that standard, Disney could be sued for not extending the use of Magical Express & EMH to everyone who's going to the parks.

Sounds like they'd be creating a "Class System" of guests...those who can afford (to buy fast passes, stay on-site or deluxe hotels) and those who can't. I don't think that is in Disney's best interests nor do I think Disney wants to do that.

To Disney, once you are in the park, everyone is the same. Doesn't matter how rich or poor you are or which hotel you are staying at.

We don't visit that often, maybe once every 5 or 6 years (the last in 2007) but personally, I liked it when there was no fast pass, that way everyone had to stand in line like everyone else and wait. No special perks like Fast Passes. That way everyone had to endure the xx amount of wait.

We've never used the Fast Pass the times we've gone and they've been there because by the time we get to them, they are all gone anyway.

I don't think that the FP system that is now in place is bad. Certainly not bad enough to warrant major changes like those stated.

Taking something that is "free" now and charging for it will not go over well with WDW visitor. The price seems to be way out of line also unless ticket prices are going down(never going to happen).

Even so, it's not a "protected class" under the law. That's a different question from whether or not it's fair.

Not really. If I'm in the park but staying offsite, I can't stay in the park for EMH hours, and I can't go to another park unless I've paid for the appropriate ticket. I can't get a discount on food via TiW unless I've paid for both an AP and the TiW card.

I'm certainly not arguing in favor of the rumored change -- I'd personally hate it -- and I'm not saying it's in Disney's best interest because I don't think it is. I was only trying to point out, as have others, that it's in no way illegal.

But, but, but, didn't you know that you are entitled to them?? :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 ya right!!

There is one advantage we have now that we didn't have 37 years ago in the area. Competition and choice. You don't like it you can go somewhere else.

Here is my two cents. My family plans all year for this trip. We pay 20.00 here and there to go! We also have to plan for ever tip, ect. Disney at Christmas is the only vacation we take so do I want to be charged for fast passes, "NO WAY!!!!!" We go on average for 10 days. We take are time and work our days around our dining reservations. We use the dining plan to save money! I would love to get like 10 fast pass per person for the trip. Like a part of the vacation package, like they did the arcade cards this year. That would be a nice treat. Now I really like the idea of a central location for fast passes or even a few central locations, only because if you have any disablities it is real hard to go around the park to get fast passes, just to have to wait till later in the day making people back track later. I love to have a plan of attack.
Keep it as it is, make a central location maybe, a few extra fast passes to use during your stay as part of a package, but do not charge for it!
