What started out as a study session turned into a date, plus one.

First of all, the guy I really like just asked out my really good friend yesterday, and it was out of the blue, and I'm still pretty torn up about that by itself.
Then, on top of that, I had this study group thing set up with them today.
But it was mandatory, and there was going to be another kid there, so I decided to go anyway.

Turns out the other kid had to leave early for Passover, and it was just me, him, and her.
At first it wasn't bad at all. We went out and just walked around and hung out. I mean, there was mild flirting, but nothing that was really killing me.
Actually, for the majority of the three hours, it was really fun, and I had a great time.
But the last five minutes of it...took a turn for the bad.

They started talking about their plans to go mini-golfing for the night, and they acted like I wasn't even there and just went crazy flirting. They barely even said bye to me. And now I have an icky feeling in my stomach.

Has this ever happened to any of you?

No, but I'm sorry.

Most of my good friends in school, as well as myself, have a boyfriend or girlfriend. 3 out of the 4 couples go to my school. [My friend's boyfriend goes to another school, and the same goes for my other friend's girlfriend.] We hang out with a couple kids who are still single. There isn't any awkwardness with my friends that have boyfriends/girlfriends outside of school, and even for my single friends, but one of my good friends makes it awkward.

I was with my boyfriend during lunch, talking to each other. My friend was there, yelled, "I feel like a third wheel." And walked away. Honestly, it made me feel bad considering my boyfriend and I weren't doing anything in the slightest to upset her.

Sorry for the rant, but you've helped me open my eyes to her perspective. Maybe I'm offending her somehow, and I don't want to do that. I'll talk to her.

Getting back to you, it's really nice that you're being civil towards your friend. That means a lot to your friendship, and you should tell her that. Talk to her. Tell her you don't mind the flirting, even if you do [once again, being civil here. =) ] but just remind her that if you're there, well. You're there and should probably be recognized for it.

This was the first time you've had to go through this with the two of them. Just speak up and work something out.

Good luck. :goodvibes:

Thanks, Jaimie. That's actually really good advice.
And I'm glad I helped you out, too :]

Honestly, it wasn't that bad, considering I was watching the guy I like with his girlfriend the whole time. It could have been a lot worse.
And by the way, sorry for the whole rant thread here.
I just can't talk to it with my RL friends, because I don't want them to feel pressured to take sides or anything. Heck, I don't want there to even BE sides!

Thanks again for the adivce :]

Yes.
Its happened to me before.
When has it NOT?
Nobodys ever liked me before, and thats what always seems to happen.

Im soooo sorry, things like that just happen, and it breaks your heart into tiny pieces, and people say "Oh honey, you totally deserve better" when in reality its "No, but I liked HIM and there was a REASON why i liked him, not out of the clear blue sky, if I deserve better then why cant I have him?".
It sucks, its almost like whatever your friends say, it just doesnt matter, your poor ol' heart is broken.
:(
I know it doesnt help but, Im so sorry.
:grouphug:  :grouphug:

I'm sorry Mickey.
