that is the one thing I remember, the empty roads! It hasn't been like that since those first few weeks.

My daughter has her G1 and she loved practising on those roads. As people went back to work, she got used to all the extra traffic. She's ready for that G2 test. She had a G2 scheduled-it was cancelled because the tester quit. She had another G2 scheduled, and then there was the lockdown. She is still trying to get her G2 test scheduled earlier than what she has....right now sits as JUNE.

What about in places like Niagara where my sons high school,open since September, just had its first case this week? The vast majority of schools in our board haven’t had a single case . While I’m all for locking down the schools that have an outbreak , we are talking about tens of thousands of kids who have gone to school successfully since September.
The toll on our communities with parents who couldn’t have worked and kids who have had to use the online learning all those months would been huge. The numbers don’t support that kids were driving the cases in our community. I think we’ve actually done the best we can to try and find a balance.

Schools remain open, and I think more things will remain open than the last time?

Restrictions will include:

• Prohibiting indoor organized public events and social gatherings, and limiting the capacity for outdoor gatherings to a five-person maximum — except for gatherings with members of the same household or gatherings of members of one household and one other person from another household who lives alone.
• Limits on in-person shopping, including a 50 per cent capacity limit for supermarkets, grocery stores, convenience stores, indoor farmers' markets, other stores that primarily sell food and pharmacies, and a 25 per cent limit for all other retail including big box stores.
• No personal care services.
• No indoor and outdoor dining. Take out, delivery and drive thru options are still allowed.
• Prohibiting the use of facilities for indoor or outdoor sports and recreational fitness with very limited exceptions
• The closure of day camps
• Limiting capacity at weddings, funerals, and religious services to 15 per cent occupancy per room indoors, and to the number of people who can maintain two metres of physical distance outdoors. This does not include social gatherings associated with these services such as receptions, which are not permitted indoors and are limited to five people outdoors.

It’s not sounding any different then their “lockdown”, which isn’t really a lockdown. Basically they have done very little, in fact I don’t think anything will change in the zones that were already bad. It’s really a joke.

I agree. I don't think this will change anyone's behaviour....meaning, people will continue to do what they've done before this "emergency brake"....

If anything it's leading to more non-compliance IMHO. I was texting our son last night when I saw the news reports dribbling in and he's not happy AT ALL. According to him every time the rules changed idiotically (his words, not mine) to some random set of limitations that limit nothing or less than they did the previous time his co-workers get excited and then agree to do MORE. He's 35 and works at OPP headquarters btw and has put in numerous HR complaints about the lack of adherence to mask wearing by others in his office. He says they seem to take great pleasure in looking for the loopholes that are being created and they jump right thru them <sigh>

I'm seeing the same reactions in our townhouse complex, the confusion over what's open and what's closed is just making people do what they want. More gatherings are happening in the parking lot, more group dog walking is happening and they shrug when we wear masks from our car to the front door. Frustrating to watch the poor doctors pleading for more restrictions and then see what is actually (not) being done

Does this mean my daughter’s swim team cannot work out in the local park? They were going to resume socially distanced workouts, limited to ten kids, on Tuesday.

Well for me, the lockdown has changed my plans for the next month. I was planning on having the boys over for dinner. Now it will be a pick up and go.

I'm all set to hunker down and leave only for groceries for the next month. We are too close to the finish line to do anything else. I'm sorry to hear others aren't taking this seriously. I do hope their foolishness doesn't result in a negative outcome for people they know personally.

Time to stay home and add to your Karma bank. May those who don't lose lots of Karma. What goes around comes around.

Until they start giving paid sick days for people to stay home when they are sick, this isn't going away. Many, many people cannot afford to stay home when they are feeling sick and consequently things spread around.

I am surprised they decided to close all day camps. Just in time for the April break. Feel bad for those working parents who now have to figure out alternative child care so they can continue to go to work. Not everyone has the flexibility to request vacation time at the last minute.

I'm not sure. My daughter does horseback riding and I'm not sure if that's on or not either. The coach doesn't know yet and she's not getting a clear answer from government. It's so crazy if she can't take her semi-private horseback lessons but people can golf...because, you know, science.

I know. Last night I spoke with one of the swim coaches that is a friend. The sessions with ten kids are off. The club has applied to the city to get permission for sessions with five kids. Still no word yet. When they said only five for gatherings, I figured that was the death knell for her training sessions.

I haven’t seen her since December 2014, but she got in touch with me back in October via email and we’ve been corresponding. I definitely agree with everything you mentioned! My little Niagara town has a total of 8 schools and that includes Highschool, Catholic and Public schools. Since September we have only had a total of 7 students/staff test positive for covid between all 8 schools. I agree with locking down schools with an outbreak but I don't think locking down all schools in Ontario is necessary at this time.
