Last July we upgraded our Disney trip to AP's, returned on December 31st (watched New Years fireworks from the plaza since it was a blackout date) mostly to see Christmas stuff before it was down (including the Mansion overlay which rocked).
Our third trip was the 17th to 22nd. Our passes expire the first week of July.
It was fun going three times in 12 months! We had only done annual trips since 2008 and this was our first year with multiples. (not counting our 15th anniversary trip to WDW with just the two of us hehe).
I had started recognizing cast members at various stations throughout the park. We have mastered all the single rider lines now that the kids are old enough to be out of site for a few minutes on a ride. This has made stuff like Splash Mountain, Radiator Springs Racers, Screamin', et al., a lot more enjoyable and it's upped our rides-per-day rates by a huge number. (especially at night when lines dwindle down to nearly nothing!)
We did run into some grad-night teenagers, which in addition to making me feel old, also made me feel better about my own kids, ha ha.
Crowds weren't bad at all. We didn't wait more than 40 for *anything* and that 40 was for Toy Story Mania. We got good spots for WoC and Fantasmic (We were in the yellow section for the first time and it was fine).
We have gotten our food system down. (breakfast at the hotel, single meal in the park and dinner outside after we leave). We fill our backpacks with water and snacks and have a couple snack times spread throughout the day. It works beautifully.
Loved seeing Big Thunder running again. We rode it several times. Funny that they've re-routed the lines, but I feel like they moved more quickly. I was glad they didn't change the cars. I can still fit! (it seems every time they remodel a ride, the cars get smaller *cough* spacemountain *cough* Matterhorn *cough*)
The wobbly brace from Indiana Jones was missing. They still had the sign not to touch the pole, but the pole was gone. It hadn't worked for a while anyway.
One thing I'll say for three trips in 12 months, we got a system down and I think our feet and our wallets are better for it.
Daughter is 12, son is 10, and they both had a blast, have started to remember where things are and can now ride without us on occasion. (like when we don't want to get wet on Grizzly Rapids or Splash). It was a fun fun time.
We had one day with a blackout (Saturday) so we relaxed, had some Chik Fil A, hit the swimming pool...it was nice to end on a relaxing note for the drive back up to Portland.
