Hello Everyone!
My name is Veronica and I've decided to do a PTR (and TR) for my upcoming USO/IOA trip that will be happening in less than 4 weeks! I don't post often but a big time lurker and I hope I get some followers.
I love reading and writing trip reports. I currently have a travel blog but that is usually directed to family only and so I thought I would do one here because the Universal forum peeps are just awesome!
This is me...the one on the left.
Okay, so the picture was taken at Universal Studios but the one in Hollywood. I went in May 2013 and did the VIP tour there which is incredible by the way. I highly recommend it if you ever make it over to the west side.
Some quick things about me...I live in sunny Arizona. It's totally beautiful here. It's hot and sometimes the politics are a bit backwards but I love it here. It's also only a 6 hour drive (or 45 minute flight) to some of my favorite theme parks.
I also love theme parks but I'll be honest, Six Flags is not on the list. I grew up going to Disneyland and then onto Universal Studios. I do frequent Knott's Berry (Scary) Farm during Halloween season as well. I didn't visit WDW until I was an adult and of course loved it and then finally to Universal Orlando. I'll explain more about my experience with USO/IOA in a bit.
For work, I am one of these people...
Seriously, my official job title is PBX Operator. This is what I'm sure some people are thinking of when I tell them what I do for a living. I answer phones. I work at a local community college and been doing it for 8 years. I spent (wasted) many years in the hospitality/travel industry and never got a holiday off and then I finally got smart. Now, not only do I get holidays off (and some days off for spring/winter break) but it's so much nicer working for a place that focuses on education rather than making more money for The Man.
No husband or children to speak of (I do have an awesome family though) but I do claim parental rights to this guy...
His name is Charlie, rescue dog extraordinaire. Just to be clear I got him from a rescue shelter. He does not do any kind of rescuing dogs or otherwise. In fact he would probably run the other way if there was an intense situation going on. Although it became quite clear after I adopted him and took him to the dog park that he likes getting into everyone's business. If two dogs are having a disagreement, he runs right over to see what it's all about. But despite some trust issues, he's very loving and all mine.
Next up: Trip details and my past experiences with USO!

I'm joining.

But the one thing that kept me from making any plans is that I would feel guilty for going without my nephew so I made plans to visit WDW in October to see the Halloween decorations and partake of the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. But once again my plans were disrupted when my parents decided to visit my sister and her family during the month of October (they are retired so they think they can do whatever they want) and therefore that would leave me with finding someone to watch Charlie for a week. I just wasn't comfortable with that idea so I cancelled WDW.
Don't want them to get super jealous that I'm going to see the awesomeness of Diagon Alley.

) decided to visit a local haunted maze. We usually do Knott's Scary Farm but this year 2 of my cousins recently had babies and of course couldn't travel. Our expectations were pretty low especially since we got a really cheap price through groupon but surprisingly we had a great time! There were 3 mazes, called The Crypt, The Asylum and Chaos. The Crypt as you can imagine was full of the classic scares but the Asylum was really creepy and the scare actors were great. As we were going through the maze they kept asking us if we were there to see the doctor. And of course the doctor is the guy at the end wearing scrubs and brandishing a chainsaw.
I love a good scary movie but not really big into gore (The Walking Dead excluded) so my favorites are Halloween and The Haunting (the 1969 version not the terrible 1999 remake) and of course a good Alfred Hitchcock flick can set the mood.

When I told my sister about my upcoming trip she kindly reminded me that Christmas was coming up. I asked her what she thought the kids would like and she immediately blurted out "wands!". I asked her "they do realize the wands don't do anything right?".
