Third Time's a Charm PTR - May 2012 - I should give up on planning trips.

Catching up.

I was at WDW for Cinco de Mayo in 2010. A bunch of us had a dismeet at the Cave in Mexico and spent the afternoon drinking margheritas. Aside from that, I don't know if there were any special celebrations for the day.

:goodvibes your way...hope that Fran is more than okay to travel.

Meet Fran's new friend Hector

WP_000062.jpg

(the little pouch in her lap strapped to her belt.)

This is her new friend the wound vac. So we are all cleared for our trips on a couple conditions, she has to rest whenever she can or needs to and we have to be back Monday so that the nurse can change the dressing on her.

While in Florida, we have to go to an outpatient wound care center twice and have the dressing changed.

This is definitely going to be a *different* trip!

WOW! As friends goes, Hector seems more square than anyone else Fran has as a friend. Maybe he'll be a stabilising influence.

Sounds like it is going to be a *different* trip. Have you worked out when you're going to be going to the care centre? Hope it is close to WDW and that there won't be too much down time involved.

We havent eaten at alot of the restaurants at WDW. The food looks amazing. But eating around the world can be like eating on a cruise. So much food.:lmao: I agree sometimes it is nice to kick back and relax by the pool. Sounds like you have everything planned out very well.:thumbsup2

I did....:rolleyes1

Okay, reading this gave me quivers and my leg hurt a bit. Yikes. I'm really hoping that this upcoming trip will get her excited and hopefully forget about the pain for a bit and focus on other things going on around her. Sometimes being in a different environment helps!

I've never considered doing the Polynesian Luau or the HDDR. The food looks pretty good at the HDDR though. I'm trying to remember, is this at the WL? If so, not too far from your room right?

Actually HDDR is at Ft. Wilderness so it's a slight trip, but we have the car.

Having the recliner sounds like a great idea, hopefully it can get moved for you.

I've never done the hoop de due reveiw, I mean Hoop Dee Do Revue. Fried chicken and BBQ ribs sounds quite heavenly, and tempting, but it's just too easy to see something similiar near my home.

So far it's not looking good on the recliner moving. We may have to pay two set up and delivery fees.

I think we've been to the Hoop De Doo review twice and I remember the strawberry shortcake being very good. That was many years ago so I wonder if they still have it.

Your trip will be here in no time.

That's one thing I forgot. I've heard the strawberry shortcake is good. I'm glad I like that now.

Sending good vibes that you're upcoming trip goes off without a hitch. :goodvibes

Thanks! I will need it!

La Cava sounds really good right now. However, I'll probably have to settle for the frozen margaritas from the cart.

Oh my, How long does it stay on? It will be different thats for sure.

At least a month. Probably longer.

I bet, but all in all it doesn't seem too bad.

It's a lot less hassle then we imagined.

I haven't even been home yet to start researching facilities! :faint: I'll have to look at the schedule and figure out when would be best. I sort of just got an idea replying to this post.

We'll need a lot of down time. Glad we at nice resorts.

:goodvibes  That's going to be a lot of work. Have you located an OP wound care center?

I think Hector needs a Mickey appliqué.

I think Hector needs a Mickey appliqué.

I just started the Google search and I also emailed my DVCtalk group. They are really knowledgeable, but if you know anything that would be great.

We will look for a Mickey applique, we'll be out at the park next week.

I'm so glad you got the ok to go! Hopefully getting to the wound care center wont be too much of a pain. They're not content with you changing the dressings? By then you'll have a couple weeks experience.

Well this weekend will be a good test run for WDW. Have fun!

So this is what I was working on last night when we couldn't get on the boards, but I haven't been home all day to post it.

When the wound doctor was seeing Fran, he mentioned that this is not a recent injury. She was like, "well, I had it last October" :confused3 however, at some point after the last October thing, I realized that when she was initially getting her knees worked on she was supposed to have the first one done on the left, but she developed this huge rash. This was in July of 2010.

IMG_3869.jpg

And this is her at the knee surgeons office

IMG_3947.jpg

So evidently she has some sort of vasular problem in her leg that the blood does not flow properly. I'm trying not to show any really gory pictures, but this is how she came home from the hospital, she was all set up to be hooked up to the wound vac, and they had her on one in the hospital before they let her go home.

However, look at how deeply they dug the tube into her leg, THAT was the thing that hurt her, not necessarily the actual surgery. Now she has a sore where the tube was dug in. Ugh!

So this is Fran at the wound clinic after they set her up with the vac (Hector).

And this is her and Hector at home. Notice the little black cat...that's Pepper, she really likes to follow the discharge through the tube, it's like bugs or other moving things that she can chase! :rotfl:

Only because I'm spewing up yellow and green gunk at the moment and coughing up bits of my lungs......I'm going to ignore the above pictures.

But    to you and Fran. (I did peek...and I don't even want to imagine what the gory pictures look like!!!).

  I'm glad you guys are still able to go, and I hope everything goes okay with the wound vac!

So far it's OK, I'll just have to see if I can find a place. I want to speak to them and make sure they will do it before we actually go. Maybe the PC physician can help us locate someplace.

I'm so glad you got the ok to go! Hopefully getting to the wound care center wont be too much of a pain. They're not content with you changing the dressings? By then you'll have a couple weeks experience.

There's no way that I could do it properly. :sad2: I'm much too squeamish and the process is way to involved.

Well this weekend will be a good test run for WDW. Have fun!

Well, we will see how it goes in unfamiliar places!

You do NOT want to see the gory pictures. I don't even want to see the gory pictures, but when the wound is undressed she keeps making me look at it. I get all light-headed, feel like I am going to pass out and then she asks me what I want for lunch!

:sad1: Ouch. Sending healing vibes and positives thoughts. If you PM me Fran's last name I'll add her to our Shabbat services Mi Sheberakh, it's a prayer for healing. :goodvibes

I once fell on a piece of rebar at the train station and it sliced my leg to the bone. My calf looked like a salmon filet. My DD said it looked like a Tontino's Pizza Roll. Guess who doesn't eat those anymore. ;)

OK, thanks....

I can understand that!

We are now up to Day 6, Sunday May 6. The original plan for this day was a quick snack in the room and then head to the MK early to get in as many attractions as possible. We made a reservation for Crystal Palace for breakfast because I love Pooh and Friends. After breakfast we would head back to the room and relax for our dinner that evening at Victoria and Albert’s.

I had heard online that the price of Crystal Palace had gone up to $40.99. :scared1: Well I love Pooh and Friends, but I’m not sure that I love Pooh and Friends to the tune of $120 + tip and tax much! So today we called up Disney Dining. They couldn’t tell us what the pricing would actually be on that day in May, but they could tell us that right now it was $28 and change and in June it would be $28 and change so it stood to reason that it should be similar in May. So we decided to keep the reservation. Breakfast will be at 10AM, that gives us almost two hours to explore MK. At breakfast none of us can really eat all that much, so we’ll probably be done by 11AM when the park gets crowded. Here are some shots from Fran and I when we visited in 2008.

We might hit another ride or two before heading back to the room to relax and build up our appetites for our dinner at Victoria and Albert’s. I think if it didn’t get here yesterday, I better on this day.

DSCN1283.jpg

Perhaps I will order a drink at the bar and just enjoy this

DSCN1281.jpg

Eventually we will head here

IMG_2435.jpg

I just love this restaurant, it is so elegant and opulent

IMG_2437.jpg

They even have stands for purses

IMG_2441.jpg

Now the menu changes so often that I have no idea what we will be having. However where else is your Amuse Bouche in four parts!

IMG_2442.jpg

Now this one seems to be on the menu often. I think I’ve had it two times and I saw a dining review from last October where the person had a similar entrée. It is Kurobota Pork three ways. He serves up the tenderloin, the belly and some other part. I always like this one.

IMG_2469.jpg

And this I KNOW will be on the menu and it is my favorite dessert anywhere. The Grand Mariner Souffle

IMG_2486.jpg

I highly doubt that we will want to attend EMH at the MK after this meal! :lmao: Since our reservation is at 6PM, I’m hoping that by 10PM we are back in our room again to watch Wishes from our Living Room.

These are great pictures of you and Fran. You both were having so much fun! Love the birthday crown Alison! I know you all will have a wonderful time at WDW even if you spend a little more than your normal time enjoying the resorts. After all you are staying at some frantastic resorts with extra space to spread out and relax. I see you Alison sitting in that big jet tub with a nice glass of wine or some adult beverage while the rest are taking an afternoon nap.

Regarding Frans leg after the debridement last Friday. Ouch! The area that is so indented from the tube and wrapping. :scared1: Has that decreased at all? It looked pretty bad in that picture, is she having any pain from it? How is her blood sugars doing with all the stress and everything going on? You said Fran is diabetic, how is she doing with keeping her sugars level? That will so help her heal.

You Alison are doing a great job of taking care of her and keeping life going forward for you both. I know from personal experience how difficult that can be when someone you love is having health problems or is ill. I have always said that the caregiver has a much more difficult job than the patient. They give all THE GOOD DRUGS to the patient. Hang in there we are all here with you.

Going to close this post on a super high note: Victoria and Alberts! :yay: :cheer2: I love to dine there! Looking at the pictures you posted brought back so many wonderful memories....as well as made me very hungry (at this hour....:sad2: ) The Grand Mariner Souffle :faint: is so fantastic there.! You must promise to think for just a second of all of us....your dear DIS buddies sitting back here eating a Weight Watchers raspberry chocolate 100 calorie ice cream bar and dreaming of your souffle. :lmao:
