Third Person Fee

Do any of the resorts not charge a fee for the 3rd adult? Oddly enough, we're staying at the same resort (All Star Sports) on our upcoming vacation and being charged the 3rd adult fee. On a recent reservation with 3 adults at All Star Sports, no 3rd person fee was charged.

Any information is appreciated.

The DVC Villas do not charge for the additional adult.

If you have a 3rd person in your room that is 18 or over you are supposed to be charged the extra adult fee. Excluding some suites and DVC units. If you were not charged before, look at that as a nice bonus. But don't expect it to happen again.

It also depends on who the "adult" is, and their age. If two parents are traveling with their 17 year old, the 17 year old is considered an "adult" as far as tickets and dining, but there is no extra charge on the room for them. These same two parents traveling two years later with their now 19 year old would have to pay the third person fee, because their child is over 18.

We always go to the front desk and let them know if any guests join us for a night or two mid trip (most of my trips are solo, so we don't go over occupancy). Occasionally they have waived the fee, sometimes they've charged it, but we always let them know.

Any time I've done a quote online for three or four guests, it always includes the extra adult fee.

All Star Sports should have charged for the third adult (age 18 or over). No idea why thdy didn't. All Disney resorts have third adult charges. The only exceptions are DVC reservations booked through member services.

I've booked a one-bedroom Villa through CRO several times and they don't charge for a third adult either.

We've always been charged a fee for a third adult in the room. Some people say that if you wait until you check in to add the third person the CM on site may let the third person fee slide. The only problem with this is the person would then not be eligible to use DME to get from the airport to the resort.

To Disney it doesn't matter if you son is 18 or 19, still an adult...3rd person fee applies.

It doesn't matter if he is 18 or 19, both are considered adult ages for the room count.

If you have ever stayed at a WDW hotel before, Disney will already have your ages on file. Otherwise they rely on their guests to be honest.

The charge is different for each different level of resort. Value resorts charge $10 per night each for the 3rd and 4th adults in a room. Moderates charge $15. Deluxe resorts charge $25.

Just as an FYI: a third adult charge is standard in the hotel industry. I've had to pay it whenever we've traveled with my over-18 daughter. I've paid it at places from Motel 6 to Hilton, Radisson, Marriott and other high-end hotels.

Yup, exactly right. Have you ever noticed the phrase 'double occupancy' with a hotel rate quote? That means that the published rate for the hotel room applies if there are two persons in the room. If there are more than two persons in the room, the rate goes up - hence the extra charge for additional adults.

Well that doesn't seem to be true with Hampton Inn's. We have reservations at two of their locations we stay at both going and coming back from WDW along I-75. They don't charge extra for 3 adults in one room. Just go on their web site, and pick 2 identical dates at the same location. Get a price for 2 adults, then get another price for 3 adults. You will find they they are both the same.

"Standard" doesn't mean absolute. Hampton's parent company, Hilton, does charge extra for more than two adults in a room.

That should have been prefaced with "...in my opinion..."
It's cheaper for the guest than limiting room occupancy to two adults and requiring larger parties to book additional rooms.

I don't mind it with Disney, because an 18 year old can, in fact, rent a room him/herself. I do resent paying for an 18 year old at places in which you have to be 21 to rent a room. That's not fair.

Oops. I guess we got a deal when my MIL tagged along a few years ago. We didn't bother changing our reservation since she had her own park tickets!
