Sorry if this is old news but here is a tidbit from an Anahem development article:

Renaissance, the new owners, announced plans to build three upscale hotels, stores, restaurants and pubs on the site. The project has been dubbed 'Gateway' due to its location at the entrance of the resort district.

Future plans in the Gateway sector include the opening of GardenWalk, which is scheduled for later this year, and the construction of a third amusement park by Disney.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

The gardenwalk area is in development, 1st phase partially open; expected up & running late this spring.

shops, a lucky strike sort of bowling place, TS (Westgate?) & dining (bubba gump, cheesecake factory & CA Pizza...CF Changs & McCormick & Schimck)

haven't heard anything about the rumoured 3rd park in awhile

They have the land and have been talking about it for years. I wouldn't count on it until they fix DCA, which they will be starting reconstruction on soon.

Since this thread has absolutely nothing to do with DVC, it is being moved to the Disneyland board.

There is rumors of a third park that will be built across the street from Garden walk. Its is known as Cast lot + Starberry field... :)

I think it would be absolutely ridiculous for WDC to take on another entire park for atleast 5 more years. So much to do at DCA and DL could utilize some space better with some improvements too.

Jeez. Dont they have to fix DCA first? $1.1 Billion over the next 4 years. So I would imagine they wont start seriously thinking about a third park till DCA is completely finished. Unless they want to build 2 parks at once.? 1.1 Billion dollars for DCA in addition with 1+ Billion Dollars for a third park... I dont think so.:surfweb:

um there has beent alk of the third park and the new dvc resort being built in disneyland and i think it would be cool, i know they are redoing dca and that will make that park better, but I wish disney land had some the other rides that are in FL cause i know i cant get there for a while. if they are makign the third park maybe they could put some from wdw in it

I have been watching for news on it even if its years before its ready

just trying to figure where the 3rd park would go:confused3 have they bought adjacent parcels already?

There has been talk about a 3rd park, but nothing has been set in stone or signed for it.

I've looked on google earth before on where they would be able to buy land, or place a new park. I never saw the strawberry field before, or never noticed it. After doing some research online I found out about the strawberry field. I went to google earth and saw the land that is big enough to put another park in. Hopefully they don't sell the land. Hopefully they'll hold onto it at least to see if DCA is a success after the improvements. And hopefully it IS successful so that they would be convinced to build the theme park. I don't expect any announced plans until at least 1212 - 1215 though, when they see how successful the improved DCA will be. the earliest I would expect the park would be between 1213 - 1216 if the improved DCA is a success. If it's not a success, maybe years or decades after, or not at all. hopefully they'll make a new theme park, and a good one, on that land. I'm optimistic though. I think it's just a matter of time that they make a new theme park, as long as they don't sell off that land. That's the only land surrounding DL where they'd be able to build a new park. If they sell it they'll truly be boxed in...forever.

I think with time Probley after or at the end of our time there will be a few more parks, Disneyland has the money and power to buy things, so i think for sure they will build the 3rd park and probley a 4th of 5th speacially if DCA and the new park run good! DW has how many lands??? theres no reason DL can't have that!!! Like i said i don't think we would see them all in our life time but i'm sure they will have them one day for our grandchildren/ great grandchildren!!

The only reason why WDW has so much more to do is that there is a gazillion (ok maybe I'm exaggerating, but still) more times land because there's nothing in that swamp down in FL. DLR? It's smack dab in the middle of busy Anaheim. Very land-locked. That's the reason why DL can't have that. Disney has no intentions of buying out surrounding areas because they want the focus to be at the 2 parks. They don't want DLR to become a WDW resort.

One of the reasons the huge amount of land was bought in Florida was so they would have full autonomy over the entire area, something they could never do in suburban Los Angeles, which is essentially what Anaheim is.

It might happen eventually, a third park that is but it will not be for another decade atleast.

They don't want DLR to become a WDW resort.

I think a lot of frequent DLR goers don't really want it to turn into WDW, either. Well, atleast I don't. While WDW is fun, it's much more of a touristy place than DLR is. I like it being smaller.

I'm thinking a water park would be a good idea. Anyone? :genie:

Actually! I'm glad you mentioned that.

I heard a rumor that they wanted to build a waterpark on that land, but nothing is set in stone yet, so they're not sure.

Well, I actually think that Disney DOES want DLR to be like WDW. They're just not able to do it because of lack of land surrounding Disney. And if they were to buy any land it'd be very expensive. When they bought the land in Florida it was swamp land, so it was ceap. But this is Southern California. Land can be expensive. And most of land around DLR isn't for sale anyway. It took forever for the guy who owned the strawberry field to agree to sell it.

The reason Disney built WDW is because WDW is what Disney always wanted for Disneyland, but they weren't able to buy that amount of land at the time. I would personally love to see DLR expand. Of course, I do still want it to be different, and there's nothing they can do to make it any less compact, so I think that the people who like that it's compact would be happy too. And I trust Disney in keeping DLR a different experiend from WDW if they expand the resort.
