I'm sure there are endless threads about 'Do I need an express pass?" I have read on several posts that it is best to wait until day of to purchase the express pass in case weather, etc. changes crowd levels.
Our current plan -- DD11 and I are heading to Orlando on August 10, staying at my cousin's timeshare, focusing on Universal plus a few other things including enjoy the resort. Then on August 17, we are checking in to Pop Century for four days to do some Disney things including the Halloween party.
On the 'Do we need express pass?' front -- we will likely be at Universal each morning (3 to 4 days?) before/at opening as the shuttle from the timeshare resort is an early one. Harry Potter will be the primary focus. My daughter is a bit of a wimp for rides. But if she likes one, she will want to do it multiple times so I think if we go with EP, it would make most sense to do the unlimited.
As I was checking things out, I discovered that even though there are only two of us, the cost of our two express passes pretty much equal one night at RPR. So if I was going to do one day of express passes, we might as well do the night at RPR and get two days of EP plus EE.
So, what to do, what to do. I actually went ahead and made a (cancellable until the week before) reservation for the Wednesday night. My initial plan was to do three days at Universal -- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (picked mostly based on crowd calendar but also thought it would give us a couple days to settle in and enjoy the timeshare resort) with a Friday being an additional option.
So does this seem like a good plan or do you think we should skip the EP/hotel? I'm sure there are other things we could find to spend that $300 on but also could make it a more enjoyable experience.
Also if we stay at RPR, I could possibly have DD go to the resort kids club (I assume you have to be staying there to use it?) and go back to the park and do some of the rides that she wouldn't do.
And looking at tickets, since we don't qualify for a current deal...if we do four days, the seasonal pass would actually be cheaper. Can we upgrade from 3 day tickets to seasonal pass while there and just pay the cost difference? I know some places let you do that as long as you do it before you've 'used up' your tickets.
Sorry for the rambling post...just thinking this through as I type. Feedback appreciated.
