Thinking on getting an iPhone 4.......Anyone have one right now?

I LOVE my iPhone 4...it's like the best thing ever.

If you are upgrade eligible, might be a good idea to wait for the iPhone 5. If the discounts are why you want the 4...it is an amazing gadget and you will love it.

If that $15 is for the data plan, if you plan use the internet a lot or watch many videos on a non WIFI connection, the $15 plan won't get you very far. I believe the $15 plan is 250MB a month which wouldn't even last me 3 days but I am constantly using my iPhone to go on the internet and watch YouTube videos.

It really is $30.00 for the data plan, but I can get a discount on it( thru my work). So that's why it ends up being only an extra $15.00 a month.

Thank you everyone for all your input, sounds like everyone loves their iPhone 4 a lot! Which makes me think even harder about getting it!

I have always loved Apples products myself, I have an ipod, ipod touch and an imac computer!

I should have clarified that the Droid was used on a different (GSM) network. I still never found the need to talk and surf at the same time. However, it depends on how an individual uses the phone.

I agree that CDMA will definitely be gone, but later rather than sooner. Considering that most people only keep their cell phones for 2 or 3 years, they need to consider the network that is prominent in their area now. On that line of thought, I wonder if the new iPhone 5G will operate on the new LTE network or the old 3G network?

That must have been a magical original Droid, as it most definitely can't use GSM. Was it the Milestone or Droid 2 Global?

LTE for Verizon covers 50% of the population today, 2/3 by 2012 and will cover the entire 3G footprint by 2013. So I think LTE should be a primary consideration.

The iPhone 5 will have CDMA and GSM in one. Saves on Apple only having to support one phone. I'm sure there will be an Apple moment where they try to convince you LTE isn't any good, hoping you forget that when they bring out the iPhone 6 and go on and on about LTE.

Talking about the realistic capabilities now, it's probably more relevant to refer to what can be done for MOST people at the moment. Your initial post was unclear and mixed talk about 3G and 4G, so to say it had "all the facts" wasn't very accurate. Just throwing some more information out there. :rolleyes1

I never mentioned 3G. Not sure how that was unclear.

As I said earlier, LTE is a reality today. Look at the map today, a large percentage of the population has LTE access today. 2/3 of the US next year, and the entire Verizon map will be 4G in 2013. Unless you live in a remotely populated area that won't get LTE until 2013, it is a realistic capability now.

I'd definitely say go for the iPhone!! I have one and love it!! Easy to use, works great and has never been a problem. I'd encourage you to wait if you can until Oct- thats when iPhone 5 is likely coming out. iPhone 4 might be cheaper. Also, if you have iMac or iPad, etc, there are some really cool updates coming in the fall!!!

Hate Hate Hated my iphone-hated. the touch screen relies on electrical impules from your fingers rather than heat-and i apparently dont generate much so it never worked. Apples freaking need to be propiritary caused me to loose two saved voice mails from my dad who passed away 4 years ago. I have a Droid 3 right now-which as a keyboard i can use for longer messages. The truth is i want my little flip blackberry back but it died a horrible death and havent made them in a few years. The Droid is okay-def better than the Iphone-at least the screen responds to me.

Well, I am going tonight to get my iphone!!!

I have the Droid 2 and there are 2 things I don't like about it. It gets stuck (and the camera stops working for no reason) and when I use the gps, the phone will completely shut off after 2 hours. Even while it is in the charger. And it will not come back on until I charge it in the outlet when I get home.
This is not good when you are relying on it to get you somewhere and have no other back up!! (And no sense of direction like me!!)

I hear the gps on the iphone is great! Does the gps come as a standard feature? I know it does with the droid

so can someone clearly list the differences between the iphone 4 and iphone 5? Thanks!

Someone can, but they work for Apple and are still bound by a secrecy agreement.

Apple has not even acknowledged publicly that there will be an iPhone 5. As we get close to the probable launch date for the next iPhone of early October, more details will be available. -- Suzanne

While respecting confidentiality contracts, assuming there is an iphone 5, and a person was on verizon's system, planning on using apps and texting as opposed to tons of phone calls, would it be a good idea to wait or take advantage of the $100 gift card deal.

I am also considering buying the Iphone with the $100 gift card deal. The website says its a verizon wireless gift card so I'm assuming I could use it to pay towards my verizon bill. Does anyone have the 3g mobile hotspot accessory and if so does it work well and do you pay add'l monthly for it or is a one time cost and how much did you pay to purchase the accessory. I realize the newer Iphone coming out would be an improvement but may be out of what I can afford right now this deal could make it more affordable and I could have it for our Nov trip. I would also be a big upgrade from the phone I am using now. Linda :)

I just got my iphone the other day and love, love, love it!!! I still haven't done a ton with it though!

I've been waiting for the iphone 5. What is the $100 gift card?

Wondering if the 5 will be $199 or higher?

Love the iPhone 4. Just upgraded the youngest child to the iPhone 4 on Verizon to take advantage of the $100 verizon gift card. I added unlimited data to her line before the deadline in July so the gift card helps me recoup a few of those $$$.
