Thinking of splitting my stay into a split stay

Currently I have a week booked in a two bedroom villa at the Poly Tower in November. Which I loved the last time we stayed there, but it’s very expensive. It’s going to be a big trip to end our annual passes celebrate both our daughters birthdays, an anniversary and spend time with some family we haven’t seen in a while. So I don’t mind spending money to have a good trip. But I could save $300 a night switching to Copper Creek villas. They aren’t available the whole trip though so I’d have to do a split stay.

How many nights would you do for the split? I could do one night at Poly and the rest at Copper Creek. Would save the most money and we’d get a taste of the room I like and then we’d settle in to the other room. Or should I do a more even split to give time at each?

Doing this switch the cousins will only get to see Copper Creek since they are coming the day before we leave. Is the pool at Wilderness Lodge as nice for everyone? They don’t plan to be there late so wouldn’t take advantage of watching fireworks from our room at Poly. We plan to do a character breakfast and then swim. We could do the split for the last night and then they’d see two different pools but logistically that seems annoying since we won’t have the room for everyone after the pool potentially until late.

I would do 4 and 4 if you have any flexibility with flights, and take advantage of the free water park promotion on your moving day.

I don't like 6-and-1 or 5-and-2 because it makes the whole trip feel shorter. The 1 or 2 day segment will feel tacked on, and it'll feel like you "real" trip is just the main 5 or 6 night segment.
We don’t have flights since we live a few hours away, but I don’t think we can add any more days unfortunately with my husbands job. I don’t think we’d do the water park with my baby she can’t swim yet. We’re also trying to maximize our park time since we aren’t renewing our passes

With kids I’d want a couple days at Poly just to land and then do the split. As for experiencing Poly Tower- I’d still want a couple days. You don’t get a decent feel for any property after 1 night even sans kids!

This sounds rude but ignore the cousins. They’re tagging along anyway, so wherever you chose to be is the best place for them. WL pool areas are lovely too.

I’m trying have family together since our kids are close in age, but definitely get that. I’m not usually a fan of one nights but have done them before usually adding on club. I saw Boulder Ridge is available for the beginning of our trip so I might switch and end at Poly although saves slightly less money since the end is more expensive.

I switched rooms in the same resort after just one night (moving from a 2nd floor poly room to a first floor poly room), I would not do a one night split unless I absolutely had to. I would do 3/5 or 4/4 or 5/3.

ETA: I'm not even sure I caught how long the stay is planned. If it's a 7 night stay, then 4/3 or 3/4.

It’s 7 nights

I once had both flights screwed up and I ended up with a 1-7-1. It was awful.

Do a week split often. I find 3/4 the best so that the second leg feels longer and less rushed. Easy to give the bags to Concierge to transfer especially considering you'd be staying in the same area.

Looks like I'm on my own here but I hate split stays. We are the type that likes to unpack and organize once. (4 daughters so we have a ton of stuff) I don't have a lot of experience as we have only did this twice but I felt a majority of our day was wasted on the move. You've picked great resorts, so I would go with one and stay put. I'm sure your situation is different from mine but the thought of having our family pack up in the middle of a stay is a nightmare. We are also the type that enjoys pool time and our kids look forward to meeting their "new friends" when we go.

I do ten night stays several times a year and do a 3-3-4 or 3-4-3 split most of the time.
As our kids get older and it's just my husband and I, I will be more willing to do this. It's a great way to experience a variety of resorts.

You're not alone. I don't like them at all. I'm doing land-sea this summer, and that's enough of a split for me.

My current plan for packing is one checked bag that is all clothes for the cruise so I won't have to unpack that. Except a toiletries bag of full-sized stuff that can't be in carry-on - and maybe extra shoes on one side. (Since I'm not a pool person and don't plan to use the water park, my swimsuit for beaches on the cruise can be in the checked bag.) My parks days bag will be my carry-on. And then I won't have to get into the carry-on bag while on the ship. Added bonus - my clean stuff for the cruise won't get messed up by my dirty stuff from the parks.

With four girls our luggage is unbelievable, dh just shakes his head as he loads them up!! I try to convince them to pack less, but they just don't get the memo!! You sound very organized, which makes traveling more enjoyable.

Yeah - traveling solo definitely helps. (As does living in NYC without an in-building laundry so I have lots of underwear. LOL.) I once packed for a 10-night trip to Alaska including a running cruise in carry-on only, so... Not being super girlie-girl helps - no hair dryer, straightner, curling iron; not a ton of hair product; eyeliner and mascara only, etc. Probably the girliest stuff is my face wash, prep serum, and moisturizer. Makes it easier.

Since the rooms at Poly seem to be so nice, I would give yourself more than 1 night. It never feels like a stay with one night because you don't know when the check-in time will be and then you have to be out by 11 next morning.

We’ve done a lot. They were definitely easier before kids. I’m only considering it now since Poly is super expensive and I’d like to save some money. The other hotels aren’t available for the whole trip and I’m not sure I’d want to not do Poly at all even I’d they were. My girls are still little I’m sure as they get older we will have a lot of stuff when traveling

But I could save $300 a night switching to Copper Creek villas. They aren’t available the whole trip though so I’d have to do a split stay.
CCV will have just completed a room refresh before your trip in Nov. (Aug-Sept end date). The WL has 2 pools and the one on the CCV side (not in the WL courtyard) is a Zero entry pool. It is not the people soup that is the Lava Pool at the Poly. May be consider a 4-3 split WL CCV / Poly Island Tower or maybe even a 5-2 split.

We love zero entries with the babies.
