We are a family of four, two adults and two girls aged 7 and 5.

We usually spend 1 day at HS on each trip, but for this upcoming trip Im seriously considering skipping it.
1. They dont watch Disney Junior anymore, so meeting those characters at H&V or watching the Disney Junior Live on Stage show isnt a must on their list anymore
2. They have watched both Beauty and the Beast and The Voyage of the Little Mermaid countless times
3. Although they can both ride, neither liked ToT on our last trip (December)
4. We watched the Frozen sing a long and didnt think it was a must do
5. The Great Movie ride just bored them, and the Alien part scared my 5yo.
6. Neither is tall enough to ride RnRc

So... Spend a day at the park for Toy Story Mania, The Muppets Movie and Star Tours or just use that money towards the MNSSHP, and spend the morning of the day of MNSSHP at the resort just relaxing.

What would you do?

HS is always difficult. It tends to fall to the bottom of many people's lists unless you are a real movie buff. The shows are geared towards the movie fan and our kids did not even like the Indiana Jones show because they had not yet seen the movies so it made no sense to them. I think it sounds like it makes sense for your family to skip and use that time as you indicated in the Halloween Party. Especially if it is an either/or the choice is even more straight forward. HS is always there but Halloween Party only is around for a little while.

We're almost doing the same thing the week after next. We have a two year old so we're going to spend one morning there to see Disney Jr Live on Stage and have a meal at H&V with the Disney Jr crew. We did not get FP+s for the park and are planning to visit MK later that day after nap so I booked FP+ there. I know my little one would like TSMM so I kind of hate to skip that but for me, it just made more sense to have an extra 3 FP+ in MK rather than see TSMM and basically waste two FP+ opportunities on things that we didn't need them for or that she couldn't ride anyway.

It's weird because when we went before we had a little one, we always spent a lot more time here. I love RnRC and my mom has always loved the atmosphere of DHS more than any of the other parks. And DH likes Star Tours a lot.

Epcot kind of gets a bad rap for being the most grown up park but aside from the few Disney Jr things, I really think DHS is the park that hold the least amount of appeal to kids of several age brackets, unless they are Star Wars fans or thrill ride junkies.

To each their own! I wouldn't feel bad about skipping it.

My family loves DHS! They love ToT and RnRC. However, I don't think we would go just for the items you mentioned above. I would use the money to go to the party. We've never been but have always wanted to! :lovestruc

We spent a half day at HS last year for the Frozen Summer Mania (singalong, parade, some fun pictures here and there) but are not planning to go back this year.

Do MNSSHP! It is worth far more to us than a day at HS. We will do HS this time because my kids love shows and have not seen the Frozen sing along, but in your case with your circumstances, seems like an easy decision.

I'd skip DHS based on your reasons, and do the Halloween party. Makes total sense to me. For me, DHS is a half-day park, since I pretty much like the same attractions your family does! I don't care for Fantasmic or ToT, can t do RnR because of my vertigo (even tho I love it!), and the shows don't interest me much. I'm pretty much a "TSM, Muppets, and Star Tours" gal. I did discover One Man's Dream on my last trip and loved it! So I'll probably do another half-day in DHS next trip, then hop to Epcot for luch and the rest of the day.

Given those reasons, I would totally give it a miss and go to the party! Even though we're Star Wars junkies and I have teen/tween boys who are really into movies, it's still becoming a half day park for us. Especially if we snag FP for the few rides we care to go on. When my guys were the age of your kiddos, I would've passed on DHS for the party in a heartbeat. It's so much fun for them to trick or treat at the Magic Kingdom. :) Have fun, whatever you decide!

Sounds skippable for you. Shame there is so little to do at that theme park now. It definitely doesn't have many attractions for 4-8 year olds (who have seen the shows)

I am looking forward to my son's (3) first full day trip there mainly because of the Disney Junior stuff and the Pixar Place .. but even with that about half the true "rides" there he can't even go on .. and the one ride he could go on (Great Movie Ride) will probably be too scary because of the Aliens scene. It was my favorite park when I was a teenager... but it was much more 'fresh' then (MGM days).

I feel until the next major upgrade at the park (which would be many years away) .. it will continue to be a ghost town or park hopper park and a lot will choose to skip it.

I'd feel out of disnry sorts if I missed a park. We go for the food too so that may be the difference.

We have only gone 2/5 trips, and we have been more than happy to skip it. We waited until our big kids were old enough to do Rock and Roller coaster. Even then, on a 4 day trip, we chose MK twice over HS.

We skipped DHS during our last trip. I missed Star Tours but otherwise I was fine with it.

Skip! They will enjoy their time better hanging at the hotel during the day and attending the Halloween party at night.
