Thinking of giving up Le Cellier for Yachtsman

My Fiance is the Chef there correct. But I did go to that restaurant alot before I got to meet him. LOL I have had about 12 cakes within the Yacht and Beach club and they are always moist and flavorful - the pastry team in that resort is just incredible.

You should celebrate his birthday the whole trip! Make sure you get him a birthday button at guest services. If you call the cake hotline or in-room dining at the Yacht Club they can tell you the options of flavors for cakes and prices depending what size you would like. They do have great desserts there too if you didn't want a whole cake.

Have a great trip!!

Oh I wasn't insinuating you were "plugging" the Yacht Club because of your fiance! I just thought I had seen you on another thread and remembered that. It might have been the cake thread as I've also checked that out quite a bit.

I don't know if it will seem odd or "wrong" to celebrate it (again) on not the actual day? Seems this is a bit of a hot topic around here (although I can't understand why people care about it - doesn't affect anyone really). But it would actually be nice to do so because on the day we arrive (which is his actual birthday) my eldest DD will not be there. She will only be joining us 2 days later. So this would be an opportunity to include her and we will have saved the best for last!

Do they make custom cakes? Am I best to call in-room dining rather than the cake hotline? Is it on-site? I don't want to have to go pick up a cake anywhere. I would just like it ordered and have it arrive a dessert time. Do they do anything special for a birthday?

Thanks so much!

Yes it was most likely the cake thread I post there alot. I say celebrate the whole trip- most of the time life is so busy when your home it doesn't always get extra attention why not make this one special while at WDW. I think you should celebrate at YSH too since your DD won't be there at Le Cellier.

Yes they make custom 8-10" can remember which size. Calling either number gets you the same place. Yes they have a full on-site bakery - they have a Master Pastry Chef and full team- they are AWESOME!!! I'm sure you've seen many of their cakes on the cake thread. When you call tell them you want a custom cake.

To order you need a credit card - won't be charged until your dinner - the name, date and time of your reservation and that you would like it at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. When you check in at YSH- you can mention it to the hostess - but also mention it to your server when you are seated that you have a cake ordered so they know.

If you have any other questions - feel free to PM me.

Thanks for all the info! I will see if I can get them to create as wonderful a cake as the incredible one in your signature. ;)

I will certainly have more questions, so you can expect a pm from me, I'm sure! Is it too late to call for a custom cake? We will need it for Nov. 6th.

We had a wonderful meal at YS on our January trip, I highly recommend them. IMO, LC is vastly overrated these days. But then, with so many people doing the DDP they seem more interested in getting maximum bang for their buck, whereas we generally pay OOP and would rather have a good meal.

Yes my birthday cake was over the top -but this was my 1st birthday with him so he wanted it to be extra special and it was!!

They say 48 hours notice but I usually call about 1 week before I would like it so it can be added to the production schedule and not rushed.

PM anytime! :)

YSH is one of only 2 restaurants in WDW that we won't return to. We have tried it 3 times and each time we did not like the food.
The setting is beautiful and the service was great, but the food just was not good.
I agree with the PP, I think Le Cellier is currently over rated. We have actually not even tried for a reservation the last 2 years. It used to be wonderful, and now it is just good.
Have a Great Trip

We just ate at the YSH last week for the first time. We liked it much better than LC. Much more relaxed and we weren't sitting on top of other people like we were at LC. Our meals were great (and I don't eat meat - I had the Salmon) but DH said his steak was the best out of all the meals he had. We were never that impressed with LC. Very very over rated in our opinion.

Yachtsman was the highlight of our trip. We enjoyed the meal so much there. Although Le Cellier is nice, I think there are better choices out there.
