Thinking of doing Universal insted of Disney!

I go to the hotels section to book a hotel and try booking for 1 night. I then added 2 day park to park passes but it says I only get express passes for the day of check in and not the day of check out? Is that true or do they just not show that? Or do I buy tickets separately and book the room separately and hope it works when I get there?

No need to hope, it is standard practice. Book hotel and tickets separately. Express Pass is good for length of stay at Royal Pacific, Hard Rock, and Portofino Bay, which includes day of check out. You can buy tix from Uni website, but you can save a few bucks by purchasing at Undercover Tourist. It is a wonderful site and the price you see there is AFTER tax.

We were in Orlando in August and stayed offsite. We did get a room on site for one night and had the express pass for two days (check in day and check out day). We also parked at the resort that day. It's a little more expensive but much closer than the parking garage.

Sometimes we do Universal instead of Disney, it depends on how we feel at the time. I don't think express passes are really necessary, usually wait times aren't too bad on most attractions

We love going to Universal and haven't done a Disney trip since they went to the new FP system. We love Uni and Uni to us feels like Disney used to ( low /no stress and able to travel and enjoy on a whim with minimal planning).We are however people that will ONLY stay onsite deluxe with the express pass privelage.It just adds so much more to our trips to be able to tour leisurely and enjoy as often as we want .We are already booked for August 2016 for our 4th onsite Universal only trip.

I am trying to make a quick trip for grinchmas and i was debating about staying on site just for the express pass. After reading this thread sounds like I might not need the express pass for that week in december.
