Thinking of buying would this work?

Use year.
Sally, some DVCers could care less what their UY is.

I am one of them. I seriously doubt our travel plans will be the same in 10 or 20 years as they are today.

I'm new to this and I thought the same thing as she did. So if I had two propertys(for Example: 150 SSR and 150 BWV) I could only book 11 month in advance with my 150 BWV points. Not the 150 SSR.
It's a common misconception. If you own points at BWV and SSR, then you have two "home" resorts but you cannot use points from one of your homes to book at your other home at the 11-month window (11 months prior to your checkout date). The points are tied to a particular resort and at 11 months from your checkout date, you can only use points from that resort to book a stay there. At 7 months from your checkout date, you can use points from any resort to book a stay anywhere, provided there is availability.

Is there any forums I should read that are good reading for a rookie like me? :thumbsup2
I learned by reading these three DVC forums. For several weeks, I read every post about the mechanics of DVC: making reservations, banking, borrowing, Use Year, etc. You can get an excellent DVC education right here! Just about everything you ever wanted to know has been asked, multiple times, and probably all within the last few weeks. So just browse back through the last couple of weeks worth of posts and you'll find a wealth of information on how DVC works.

There is also good info available on VA Scuba Guy's DVC website. It contains some of the info from the member's handbook: http://members.cox.net/disneyvacationclub/

Hope this helps!

I am a rookie, too. Just bought 100 SSR and plan to add more later. I may be wrong with this, but maybe it will work.
Buy 100 points at BCV under your name, 100 points with SSR under your husbands name (or mom or dad's name if you don't have a huband).
You could transfer points from SSR into BCV and have the full 200 to use each year.

Or, as I think someone else already said - alternate where you stay every year. Borrow points for a BCV stay and bank the SSR, the next year, use SSR points to book.

When you transfer those SSR points to your BCV contract, they are supposed to stay SSR points and retain their use year - so transferring will do you no good. The system doesn't track this very well, but due to some issues over the years, it seems CMs are making a much better effort recently to manually track these - so they don't morph.

If you want the home advantage at BCV, buy BCV points. If you want to chance getting what you want at seven months, buy whereever. My own gut is that no one is paying a $10 a point premium at BCV so they can use their points at OKW - I think that BCV owners in particular are more likely to use their points before the window opens, making fewer rooms available for the rest of us.
