I am thinking of booking a WDW trip combined with a Disney Cruise. I am looking at May of next year booking my land seperatly from my sea package because of the hotel cost difference. I am a family of 5 and they want me to stay in the poly or beach club or even better with that many people...so I am gonna try to book Port Orleans riverside for 5 days and then leave early to sail out on the 4 night cruise. Has anyone done something like this? Will I still get the transfers to and from the port thru Disney? Should I keep the larger cabin or book two Cat 11 cabins? This will be a belated 10 year anniversary trip with the kids so I want to make it special.....any advice is welcome!!!! Share with me a better idea if you have one too! thanks a bunch

Yes, you can still transfer even though you have booked seperately. We did this a couple of years ago. Just another option for you to consider: have you tried comparing the DVC unit at Beach Club with a kitchen ect...vrs staying at Port Orleans? If you go to the rent/trade board you can rent points and stay there. I don't know when you're going in May, but it might cost the same and you'll have a kitchen to have breakfast and such. Just a thought :) The 2 bedroom unit will give you tons of space also.

Yes as long as you pay for tranfers they will take you.

I assume you are talking about a cat4 Family cabin versus 2 cat 11s. You can also try, depending if you can have a cabin across the hall you can move down to a cat 5/6 and one directly acrosss the hall. I will tell you we usually stay in the Family room and love it. I love reading on the lanai.

We're a family of 5 doing 4 nights parks/4 nights on Wonder. I've booked them seperatly. We've got a CAT 7 and a CAT 11 directly across the hall. As for the room, well I'm still deciding on that. We are planning on a rental car so won't need the transfers.

this is more confusing then i thought..... so if i book 2 Cat 11 rooms that are adjoined.... I will pay more then if I book across the hall???? Also if I get halls across from each other then my hubby and I would be seperated....if they were adjoining I would be more comfortable splitting up from the kids. They will be 3,7,and 8 years old at the time. Please help!!! Should I just stay in the Cat 4 that actually sleeps 5..... I need some advice we have never cruised before!

We decided on the across the hall rooms, but my kids will be 12, 8, & 4 at the time of sailing and my oldest is very responsiable, so I think they'll be ok across the hall together. Plus I plan on bringing a baby monitor, I've been told that they will work on the ship. Your's are a bit younger than mine, I don't think I'd be able to do this if mine were that age. I figure the 12 & 8 yr old will be ok in their own room, the little one will probably end up in our's.

I didn't look into adjoining cabins because then both rooms would be verandah ( DH MUST have a balcony) and that'd be too much $$$, so it was either rooms across from each other or one CAT 4, but the 2 rooms with the extra space won out.

You need to check on the Cat 11s, I think they are ajoining but not CONNECTING, Meaning they are side by side but DON'T have door between them. With your kids, I think I would either go for the Cat 4 or get CONNECTING cat 10s. The across the hall option is used by lots of folks who have older kids and want a verandah and another room to keep the cost down.

I'm not sure but I don't think you can get CONNECTING Category 11s.

Last year we spent 6 days at the Port Orleans Riverside then went on a 4 day Wonder cruise. We loved the Port Orleans Riverside. We were able to take advantage of a special deal that was sent to us on a postcard and got the room for about 40% off the reg rate. POR was very nice and the kids loved it. The restaurant there was very good and the kids loved the pool. Our kids were 4, 7, 11 and I thought the cat 4 family worked the best. There was plenty of room for all of us but we were not in the room much anyway. The other posters are probably right that you could get a cat 6 or 7 and then a cat 11 across the hall for about the same price but you have to decide if you are ready to have your kids in a separate room.

We did the land/sea in April with the Cat. 4 and stayed at the BC. When I priced the trip separately with the POR in mind, it would have been the same price. I figured the benefit of the package was having the Deluxe resort at the moderate price. Plus we loved being able to walk to Epcot and boat to MGM! You are literally right there. The Magic Kingdom was a bus hop away, no transfer at the TTC. Also, the BC has the 3 acre heated sand bottom pool, featured in Southern living as the best in the Southeast.

With your kids ages, I would definitely recommend staying together in the Cat 4!
