My wife and I are thinking about purchasing into Saratoga Springs, but we go every year to the food and wine festival.

So, we will want to stay primarily in the Beach Club or the Boardwalk.

My question is how difficult will it be to get into Beach Club or Boardwalk if we wait until 3 to 2 month prior to travel before making our booking?

Thanks for your help,

Brian Allen

Welcome to the DIS! Based upon what I've read on these boards it can be very difficult to book DVC rooms for F&W during that short of a lead time.

2-3 months before is pretty iffy, and practically impossible at BWV and BCV during the food and wine festival. If that location and that time are important to you, I would try to find a resale at one of those two resorts and try to plan as close to 11 months out as possible.

From what I gather, BWV and BCV are almost impossible to get during F&W at 2-3 months out, even 7 mths out. I would look into a resale if that if that location is really important to you.

As more members are added, it will get harder and harder to get into the smaller resorts.

What part of Alabama? ;)

Unless you are going to book more than 7 months out, it doesn't matter which resort you buy. At 7 months, a point is a point is a point.

For the last 3 months of the year, BCV and BWV are going to very tough to get unless you are able to book at least 7 months prior to arrival.

Best wishes -

It'll be pretty tough to get a room at either the BWV or the BCV 2-3 months out from the F&W Festival.

Everyone wants to be in that area, so they can walk in & out of Epcot.

We had a 2BR booked this year for the F&W Festival, and it took months of being on the waitlist to get all the nights in the BWV, and the last night literally became available the day before we left for the trip!!!!

If you really want to attend the F&W Fest ival and stay on the BW, I suiggest you make BCV or BWV your home resort, and book at the 11 month window.

And don't forget about the BW and standard view options at BWV, even at 7 months, those will be impossible that time of year. If you can't plan at least 7 months out, I don't think it's reasonable to buy into DVC.

I think that we can plan 7 months ahead. I just wanted to get a feel for the shorter window.

Would most of you say that I would have a 50-65% chance of getting Boardwalk at 7 months out? Or, would the chance to better or worst?

I just booked a BWV standard view studio for the 1st week of October at our 11 month window. I plan on doing that every year for our kids. I also plan on booking us a 1 bedroom at either VWL or BCV for that time.

If you want to do that every year, buy some points there. You could buy 150 at SSR and then do an add on of 55 or 60 at BWV or BCV. And that way at least you could get a studio for five nights during October with the 11 month window.

Of course all any of us can do is guess. For BWV for any view, I'd agree with 50-65% but you'd likely have to include wait list successes to get that high. And it would assume you call at exactly 7 months out.

You do realize you can buy a resale at the Boardwalk? The link above, or if they don't have an appealing contract, google search "DVC Resale." Once you are in the DVC system, a resale is indistiguisable from buying from Disney,

I just added another 100 points to my BWV contract direct from my guide for $92 a point. They can get them for you if they don't have your use year in stock. Also only but the same use year!.
Not only did I buy direct but I used my Disney visa card and got $1.00 for every hundred dollars I put on the card...($92.00). With the visa card savings I only paid $200.00 more to buy direct than resale, and the points are in my account now not having to wait 4 weeks to get approved.
Disney also only sells points that have the full value from this year available.
My use year is February. I have 100 points from this past Feb as well as 100 coming this Feb, so really I got 200 points for the first year! :Pinkbounc
Please call your DVC guide and check into it before going with the resale.

It sounds like you really need to buy at BVW. You should only buy at SSR if you'd be happy to stay at SSR, and it doesn't sound like that's the case. Buying at Resort A when you've got your heart set on staying at Resort B is a recipe for aggravation and anxiety. Why do that to yourself?

I agree with those that suggested a BWV resale. You are going to own DVC a long time, why worry about getting the resort you want every year?

I think that your ability to book BWV or BCV during the F&W Festival at something less than 7 months also depends on several other factors:

The number of nights you are staying: it is obviously easier to grab one night than 14.

The kind of unit you are looking to book: generally, studios and 2 BR book faster than 1 BR.

How flexible you are with your dates: If any dates in the 6 week period for the F&W would work for you, it is easier to book than if you need to go a particular week.

We booked a 1BR at BWV for 10 nights starting on Columbus Day at about 6 months out and were able to get a confirmed BW view for all but the first night. That said, we bought points at BWV because we wanted to have the ability to book standard view during that time.

Good luck in your decision. -- Suzanne

I am starting to think that I could buy into SSR at 150 points and purchasing about 50 points at BWV so that I could have 5 days of Food and Wine Festival.

I could book the BWV at 11 months and use the 150 at 7 months to add to the days if available. (I believe that they would be a seperate booking.) :confused3

You could do both, but what attracts you to SSR? Managing two contracts may be difficult and not worth the effort (some people think its easy, others think its too complicated). So far, you haven't given any indication of why you want to buy SSR, but every indication of why you should consider buying BWVs.

And if you are happy in studios and weeknights, 200 points is going to be a lot of DVC points to own.

I am not sure I like the idea the purchasing resell points given the shorter contract length, closing cost, title fees, etc. Boardwalk points are costing 80 to 85 over at Time Shares By Resale plus fees.

With SSR going for 83 per point, it seem like I should go for the longer contract with no closing fees. And, I can purchase the SSR on my Disney Credit Card and payoff when the statement arrives for even more savings.

SSR is close the Downtown Disney and my wife and I end most of our evenings in the Downtown Disney area.
