Has anyone stayed in OKW, SSR, BWV? If so, especially if you have stayed in more than one, opinions?

I have stayed in all 3 and enjoy all 3. SSR and OKW are similar and BWV is more hotel style. Depends on what type of experience you wish to have, what size unit, the make up of your group, etc. I noticed your ticker said 8.5 months until your next trip. Is this the time frame you plan to rent points for and is this your first experience doing so?

I might for this one, but probably for the next one. I'd have to get lucky on something last minute because the money isn't liquid at this point in time.

That is going to make it more difficult. DVC and last minute don't often work very well. And a sane member won't rent a reservation less than 60 days out without full payment just to make the reservation. Otherwise they can lose.

Renting points is not ideal for last minute planning and the vast majority of owners will expect upfront payment and expect it to be nonrefundable. Ideally, if you can have your plans made 11 months ahead your options will be best and at a minimum 7 months for dvc, particularly for high demand times and high demand resorts (BWV would fall into that category).

Hence the reason i said probably for the next one. Opinions on the resorts themselves?

We have stayed in all three, and my rank order from favorite to least is:
BWV
SSR
OKW

Reasoning: I like to be in the middle of the activity and I want to feel the Disney atmosphere. The rooms at all three are nice, with OKW having the most space. But we also felt like we were in the middle of nowhere at OKW, with no central location to visit. SSR was a little better, they had a food area and general store. BWV is my favorite of all the DVC properties. We are going back to BCV and AKV for this upcoming trip, but I've told my DH to book BWV for the next time because I'm going through withdrawal.

I have stayed at OKW and BWV. I love BWV. Wasn't as thrilled with OKW. My issues with OKW are mostly around the location and it just did not feel disney to me. It felt like I had rented and offsite condo. I love BWV mostly because of the location but also because of the atmosphere of the boardwalk. You always feel like you are right in the middle of the action which we love. I also love being able to walk to Epcot(5 minutes) and DHS(15-20 minutes). When I rent BWV I always rent 11 months out. I usually have to pay 30-50% upfront when the reservations are made and the rest 60 days out. When I booked OKW I was able to book 2 months in advance but had to pay the whole amount when the ressies were made. I usually pay 12 a points for BWV but got OKW for $9point. I love renting points and would not stay at disney another other way now. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

We rented points at OKW and I fell in love with the resort! We stayed for 3 nights before our cruise, and went to the parks for 2 days. In all honesty, the kids would have been perfectly happy skipping the parks.

It is very laid back and 'away from it all' and I actually found that very relaxing. We came home to a gorgeous resort, that was very quiet and the end of a very noisy, congested day and we could unwind! I imagine SSR is similar in feel.

Now, BWV is likely the opposite. It is right there...smack dab in the middle. We did drive there one night too catch fireworks and to check it out. I know we'd love to stay there too. I think though the relaxation factor for me would win hands down!

I loved all of the extras at OKW too. Free dvd rentals, dvd player in every room. Fires every night at the pit with free marshmallows to roast and sing alongs. Free candy at the movies shown outside. Kids loved the pool. DS(&) helped open the pool by having a sword battle with a life guard...he was a pirate. The community hall had every game imaginable, a wii, xbox, and play station, foosball, arts and crafts, etc . I thought the property was gorgeous too.

The resorts we've stayed at that we had to compare it to were Pop, CBR, and POR. HTH!

We have stayed at all 3. I didn't like SSR, but that could've been a fluke. We were only there one night before moving to BWV. But we probably won't stay there again. We have stayed at BWV, once just DH and I in a studio and another time with kids in a 2-bedroom. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE BWV! But I had ALWAYS wanted to stay there. Love the location! Walk to EPCOT and walk to DHS. And EPCOT is one of my favorite parks. Love being able to just walk into WS and walk around, grab a Grand Marnier slush, etc. BUT.... we have also stayed at OKW. Our last trip in June was 5 nights at BWV with our 4 kids plus one extra in a 2-bedroom. Then 2 kids (teenagers) left and we moved to a 1-bedroom at OKW for 4 nights (since OKW is one of the 1-bedrooms that sleep 5 people). We loved OKW too! While I like the location of BWV MUCH better, OKW is really nice, has a great pool area, is beautiful... and the villas are BIG! Plenty of room for the 5 of us! And there is a sofa (bed), love seat and sleeper chair. Instead of pulling out the sofa bed, one kids slept on sofa and the other on love seat. This time, I think we will bring a twin air mattress for one of the kids. Also a nice BIG balcony!

The kids also probably would've been happy just hanging out at OKW the whole time. They loved hanging out at the pool, the pool games, and the community center. But we also loved the entertainment at Boardwalk. It was perfect to share the time between the two resorts!!
