Thinking about OKW, but unsure...

There was suppose to be six of us going on this vacation, but looks like it will only be our family. (So 5 of us) I had booked FWC for us, but was thinking about trying OKW one bedroom. I read some reviews of recent stays and people were saying their rooms were musty and mold in the bathroom. Anyone find that at OKW? I really like the idea of staying at a Deluxe, but just don't know for sure.

Josh over at easywdw.com just wrote a review of OKW and the 1 br suite they stayed in. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

We have stayed at OKW 4 times over the last 6 years and have never had an issue with musty rooms. It is my boys favorite resort and the living room and balcony are huge. Not saying there aren't issues, but we stayed at BWV, and our room was in poor condition, but I took it as an anomaly and would stay there again.

OKW one bedroom will have one king bed in the master bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa and twin sleeper chair in the living room. The bathroom is large and divided with the toilet, shower and a sink on one side and a sink and the jetted tub in the other section closest to the master bedroom. The porch is large with a round table and four chairs. We've stayed at OKW more than ten time (I've lost count) and never had a musty room. We have at least two more trips set up for this year at OKW.

One thing, though, most of the buildings do not have elevators (only three do and they are pretty much reserved for medical needs). So if you have lots of stuff you'll be hauling it up stairs (two floors or three floors in the buildings).

Our 1st stay at OKW was in a ground floor studio. The musty smell was terrible! Not to mention that there were air conditioners right next to our patio. We said never again! (However, we did like the pool in the Turtle Pond area.....the water was nice & warm!) But a few yrs later, we decided to book a 2 bdrm for the 1st 2 nights of our trip, & requested that it not be on the ground fl. We checked in late one evening, and were very unhappy to find out they had booked us in to a ground floor unit. Luckily, it wasn't a busy time of the year, and they were able to change our room. We loved it this time. No musty smell at all.

OKW has huge rooms, including the laundry area. They offer a peaceful & pretty view from the balconies. The boat service to DTD was very valuable. And you have Olivia's with great food. As someone else suggested, take a look at Josh's review on easywdw. He describes it wonderfully, and includes lots & lots of pictures.

Thanks for all the replies. Dh and I discussed it and we feel the cabins will be best for us. We have stayed there before and enjoy the Fort very much.
I was just wanting to try a new resort this trip. :)

Thanks minnie mum. What a comprehensive review - love the detailed photos. We will be staying at OKW for the first time in July. This review reminded me why I chose this resort.
