My husband and I live in North Carolina. We have traveled to DisneyWorld for the past four years and love our experience. We are thinking about traveling to DisneyLand in 2011. My husband uses a wheelchair and we prefer to fly Southwest (into SNA or LAX?). What tips, suggestions, etc. do you have? Where should we stay? What do you think we should do (married with no kids)? Thanks in advance!!

Check out the Sticky on this page that starts with "DLR info." It will give you a lot of what you are looking for and anything else feel free to ask.

We find SNA easier than LAX and it's closer to Disney too. Coming from so far away I would suggest adding in a few days to enjoy the San Diego area too.

Have fun planning!

Well first of all.. most Diser’s like to have a set of park maps to plan out their treip, and I have 4 DLR and 4 DCA maps, so if you’d like a set please PM me your address, and I send them pretty fast also!

Thanks to both of you for the responses. We are really considering it, it is just going to be an adjustment. I am not finding a lot of information on how dining works, etc. We are so used to WDW that we are slightly nervous about this trip. My husband uses a wheelchair so we have been spoiled by the Magical Express, monorail, etc. What can we expect with that? Once we get to the onsite resort, will we have Disney Transport available for everything Disney related (only have to arrange cab/shuttle for offsite locales?).

We are hoping to add in at least a baseball game (Angels vs. Tampa Bay Rays) when the schedule comes out. Any and all information/suggestions would be appreciated. My email is reganbrownreynolds at gmail dot com.

There's a ton of information on the DLR Info/Links sticky at the top of this forum. But the best of the best, since you're WDW vets, is to read Hydroguy's DLR Guide for WDW Vets. It's a classic!

Read Hydroguys thread as stated above its a great place to start then begin asking questions.

I'm a WDW vet who ventured out west four years ago and have not been back east since. We love Disneyland.

I recommend staying at the Grand Californian if cost is not a factor. It's conveniently located on the Disney property with easy access to Downtown Disney and has its own private entrance to Disney's California Adventure. They have the Napa Rose restaurant onsite which is featured on many of the Food Network shows, and they've got a great breakfast/dinner buffet at the Storyteller's Cafe as well. I usually eat there at lunchtime just to take a break from the crowds (though there's no buffets at lunch). I love their Cobb Salad, corn chowder, and my mom usually orders the Salmon plate (kid's meal). They're required to tack on an additional $4 for an adult ordering the kid's meal but some waiters may choose to wave that upcharge. Yummy soft breads and corn muffins are brought to your table pretty much as soon as you are seated.

Don't miss:
Indiana Jones Adventure
Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
Pirates of the Carribean (The drops are a little different from the one at WDW)
The original Tiki Room show
Monster's Inc (Not sure if this ride is at WDW?)
Fantasmic show is also a little different because the show takes place on the Rivers of America (but seating is not as nice as @ HS)
Great Moments with Abraham Lincoln
Aladdin Show (see if at least once before they replace with Toy Story)

Food-wise inside the park:
Blue Bayou
Cafe Orleans

My 2cents.... if I remember more I'll add to this thread.
Have fun planning your trip!
